The way I have been looking at growing since I started a few years back.......
Once the country legalized marijuana. taxes and sells it in store....
I'll have the experience to find work in the field.

You can only really make back what you put in when you grow for patients.
unless you're a scumbag CG who cares nothing about the patients and only about the money.

I have yet to make a profit growing. I've spent more on this grow for the reason of I need to have a steady supply.

I can't answer my phone anymore and be like "no sorry hun, wont have anything for another 8 weeks or so..."... I feel like an asshole when I have to do that.

So no more Mr. Little guy........ I SHOULD be able to supply my patients throughout my next grow and,
as long as I don't smoke too much of it maybe a little further than that.

And my main reason for the selection.... MY LOCAL DISPENSARIES HAVE NEXT TO NOTHING... 6 strains available in herb or wax. that's about it...............
there are a few more that aren't out on display but that's because they don't look all that good.

How can a dispensary force a patient to sign away a CG spot, and not offer them what they are looking for??

And another thing I can't seem to figure out is.
How the strains they DO have.... are not ALL good. only 1 strain above 15%THC and next to nothing for a CBD selection.
they are all equally shit.
That's because the people supplying them in your "medical" area, got into the grow biz because they saw money, they could care less about the end product, the plant etc. There time is spent in paper work, taxes, and bank accounts, documentation etc, not on really "caring, tending, giving samples, and caring about FEEDBACK". I care about quality, and want people to receive more than they expected from anything i create. These medical banwaggoner's don't experiment, give out anything, or really care... That's just my opinion.

You get back from the world what you put in.

If i were a medical guy in a med state, I would simply order some cup winning strain seeds, basically turn an indoor grow into a seed bank to create thousands of fem seeds and grow all of those outdoors in the best conditions as possible, (being in a med state, you'll have more relaxed laws when you break them) Like cali... the result would be mostly sensimilla and all cup winning bud with lots of cbd, and massive colas, etc. Also you would be able to afford to only do one massive grow per year at perfect timing (or multiple grows just all at same time), and your yield would be insane. everything would be able to dry and be stored correctly, and you could get your entire state high as fuck indefinitely lol. All at the cost of what? maybe a couple grand total from start?

Mastergardner here. I would like to know about that smell also. My buds come out very good but the smell is not there. Any help will be very much appreciated.

Sounds like you're drying your buds too fast after harvest, or not curing long enough buddy. Study on drying and curing and I bet you can improve it.

Canning Jars and cool temps. if you have a mini fridge turn the temp UP a little bit(not cold like a fridge should be but cooler temps work) and use that for storage.
Burp your jars according to any jar curing method you have read or will read(Just Google "Curing Marijuana with jars")...
The warmer the temp the worse the cure(IMO)......
If your weed comes out grassy tasting it could be from a few things.
harvest was too early, cure was not long enough, or weed was too dry prior to cure......

My last 4 plants ALL had a great smell to them(the Kush was more of a pineapple from the FloraNectar)....
And nothing tasted grassy. all were just great smoke.

BTW rosey, if you're still viewing this thread I wound up getting 5 tops from that og kush that the bug dimmed for me. Its about 5 inches tall now and has 14 tops (just made 4 cuts, so 8 of the tops are teeny tiny). Haven't been giving them much recovery time, cutting at every new node lol. I'm gonna top each one once more and then let her grow.

Crap! Deleted all my pics, I'll grab one later
awesome man!!!!! I've gotta see that, you have a journal? or thread?

Man, I started a journal two months ago when my first plants were little, and I wish I would've kept it up BC I've learned so much since then. I think I'm going through some pH problems right now with my first plants, but my little og has remained unscathed, she's nice and healthy. Here she is:
IMG_20130815_222459.jpgIMG_20130815_222559.jpgIMG_20130815_222642.jpgIMG_20130815_222721.jpg

In that last one you can see a couple of the new cuts. I've not been giving her any time to recuperate; one top almost broke off early (one of the first five there were 4 tops around the outside like a fim, and then 1 right in the middle). So I haven't topped the one that almost broke, and the one in the middle is growing really slow compared to the others so I haven't cut it. But I'm gonna let them all grow out two or three nodes and cut one more time, and get her ready for one of my little "individual" scrog screens, that I make out of remesh. They are handy, I can scrog them but still pull them out one by one if I need to. I'm putting a couple more in them tomorrow I'll post some pics

To add to this, you might supplement a fridge for a decent a/c in a room that's not crazy humid... My last buds came out the best so far, over a quarter pound, that actually dried right for a change LOL... I dried for maybe 10 days? or basically till they were crispy (the dead small leaves still in tact that were not trimmed off do to size). Best smoke yet (so im told by my step son and a friend from work), and hung to dry the longest and did not really even cure, went right into a gallon zip after i snipped from the stems, So far as still a newbie, i find the longer the drying period, the better... The curing helps for the smell to really build up, but if you do it too soon like i have in the past, and too moist, they get a cat piss like ammonia smell, which is unpleasant, but does not really bum the actual smoke out. i hung in my grow room right a few feet away from the AC... Humidity was about 40-55 at the highest (only after watering the plants, or misting and quickly went back to about 50) I hear 55+ you are in mold danger zone. But really low and they dry too fast, so far the grow room is the best spot i found, even though my temps are still 90+ my plants are thriving. and apparently its a good spot to hang and dry. Tried a closet but there was not much humidity, and virtually no air movement = bad. And other crops I simply bagged way too soon. drying/curing is defiantly a learning process just like the growing process and learning to read the plants. Just my .02

The Blue dream mom is lookin slightly droopy. she was BONE DRY. and just got watered yesterday.
So looks like I better hurry these fuckin Auto's up. lol
When they are about 2 weeks out I will transplant her from the 3.9 gallon to a 7 gallon pot.
Letting her roots expand before the flip.

All you have to do is drill holes into a huge tub, dump soil in... Get a few buckets of 6.5 water, dump them in, ph the drainage, and adjust from there. So you'll know next time you use the soil that its a solid 6.5 and just water them with 6.2-6.7 and your good to go. :)

That's why I turn the fridge temp up. :) but yes I am also going to use an air conditioned room. I WILL NOT be able to fit all of what comes out in the mini fridge alone. lol......... I Dry in cardboard boxes. open them up every night to swap humid air for fresh drier air. Only takes me about 5-7 days to dry before jarring.

A proper cure brings out the smell and taste of the buds as well as increased potency. Those few trichomes that were clear when you cut and dried are now able to mature. http://cannabis.com/growing/curing-does-curing-affect-potency.html
