Ever sence i lost my job i've been kinda tight on money, and i just found out there's a plasma donation center about 15 miles from where i live. I don't want to here a bunch of negative opinions on the subject, i donate blood at the red cross a few times every year anyways, so im just going to swich/upgrade to plasma. I just want to know if i can still smoke marijuana? I need the money so i can stop, but i suffer from insomnia so i would have to start getting a prescription again. Someone here must donate right?

They usually only screen for STDs and conditions such as HIV, AIDS, Hepatitis...things that would endanger people receiving the plasma. Some centers do test for illegal drugs but in many cases, THC in your system will not preclude you from donating. Call the center ahead of time and ask if you're concerned. You don't have to give your name when you call.

Most plasma centers DO NOT check nor care if you use cannabinoids. They check for STD's and for "hard" drugs (cocaine, opiates, methamphedamines, and their metabolites) as these are indicators of high risk life styles. This does not mean you should tell them, but you should be safe peeing in the cup. I have smoked regularly for almost 20 yrs. now and have donated for 11+, @ four different centers, and I have never been deffered. Drink lots of water the day before, and eat 30-60 min. beforehand to raise your blood sugar, and you'll be fine. I don't advise drinking that night.

My cousin works at the plasma donation center out here and they dont check for any drugs at all, you actually see quiet a few crack heads in there. But unfortunately they dont let you donate if you have had brain surgery so that puts me out of the picture.
