Does too much Nitrogen lock out Phosphorous?

What standard yellow meter? How are you testing the soil pH?
Just flushed and checked runoff - wait for it…

ph is at about 7.2 but ppm is saying 2800…it’s the first time I’ve checked ppm so not sure if this reservoir that is catching the running shows a cumulative number over time or how accurate this is, but it would definitely explain a lot of the problems I’m seeing and the overdose. Even the Dougs Varin is at 1500 ppm which is obviously too high. FML

So just to circle back on this for my own reference and for anyone who is interested - it would appear I went crazy with the roots organic Cal/Mag and that created a P/K lockout. The Malawi was more sensitive than the Dougs Varin and actually first began showing signs of distress weeks before with intense clawing, which may very well have been a reaction to too much N…but I don’t know where that would have come from so I’m still not sure. Could simply be a Malawi sensitivity to N which Ace seeds mentions without much fanfare on their site.

The comments regarding Molasses were super informative but I don’t think I’ll completely drop it from the mix. There are plenty of advocates who use it during flower so I believe there are benefits when used sparingly. It possesses some amount of calcium and the DTE 4-8-4 possesses some amount of Magnesium…so I’m inclined to introduce molasses during flowering (in future runs) and when combined with the 4-8-4 I probably won’t need to bother with the Roots Organics unless a deficiency appears. However, I will make sure to PH my water after the molasses is added

I’m finally measuring PPM after each watering and realizing how useful it is to gauge a plant's health when growing organically (took me long enough ). With physical symptoms being delayed by 2 weeks, it feels like I’m watching a slow motion train wreck when I fuck something up. The PPM on the Doug's Varin and Malawi are still 1500 - 2000 but they’re coming down so all is not lost. The Malawi is a beast so I would not be surprised if she still pulls through a decent harvest despite the abuse…then again, I would not be surprised if I fuck something else up before then.

I appreciate all the help from those that took the time to help ✌
