I talk about Cannabis in stores most places are cool if your show them your MMJ card they are like "cool lets chop it up". People really hate on Advanced Nutrients ( I used to be one of them) because of their outrageous prices and over plugging they give away and print Rosebud magazines by the millions and every page is a diss to GH or other nutrient companies or its a (Raptor Hood made by AN) or that bull taking a shit on the GH logo... After I did my research they seem to be a good company and they must make good nutrients because a lot of people use them and hell they have the research to back it up and they arent afraid to talk cannabis.
I had misgivings about AN too because of their bad rep. But I said, "fuck it" and decided to see for myself. I like it. The latest issue of Rosebud with Rihanna on the cover is on my coffee table.

Wow, R/O and no Cal/Mag , I guess AN's proof is in the pudding.
The good thing about those deionized R/O systems is that they pretty much leave you with 0 ppm which is what every nute company uses to test their nutes thats how they set up their nutrient calculators starting at zero PPM. You got yourself a good R/O system.

thanks BeaverHuntr all i do to avoid cal/mag problems is add nutes to my water at 70ppm and have no problems then i up it every 3days by 10-15ppm till its at 100ppm this is from when seed has poped and its about 1 week old then i leave it for 2-4 weeks depending on how the plant is growing i do not ph ajust anything untill week 3 then i set ph at 5.8 or 5.5 depends on what i am growin. when plant looks light green then i up the nutes to 160-170ppm and so on. with AN nutes u have 2.50% calcium and magnesium is 1.00% so yes u are right AN nutes are ( is proof in the pudding) like u said my friend the question to ask here would be what percentage of calcium and magnesium is in the nutes ppl are using to grow thier lovely plants....then maybe we could see another story to all this....also why buy cal/mag when u could also throw tap water into the r/o mix lets say 50 liters r/o and 1 liter ov tap water.....

i'll aerate 200-250ppm tap overnight, add calmag to 500ppm, then add whatever else after that.

started doing this recently on recommendation from a friend because the leaves in my buckets were so thin and papery and it seemed like they were're really drinking a whole lot. what a big difference! took about 2 weeks to fully see the difference in leaf thickness/vitality. plants are now going nuts and sucking up water/nutes like crazy.

I never used AN so why would I hate them?
That's not what I stated or even implied.
Not to say that the other mute companies don't know what they're product is used for. I was stating the fact that it is incriminating and plenty of hydro stores HAVE been shut down by undercover agents going in and inquiring about products that can help with marijuana growth

Sure, sure. But half the hydro stores in LA would be out of business if it weren't for pot growers. Maybe more. Maybe all. So it's just a silly game in my opinion. I see them dudes working there with goat tees, shaved heads, pierced up and tattoos, so I doubt they're working there because they like growing huge cucumbers. Lol. They know what I'm growing. And they know that I know that they know what I'm growing. Because through some of my conversations with these people, they have often referred to their own grows in the context of our discussions. Now I know Mr. nose ring man wasn't talking about tomatoes or some such thing...

Edit:
And sorry for harassing you. I promised the mods I wouldn't flame anymore, but I can still jab or poke here and there. Lol.

OMG. Why would you do such a backwards thing? People use tap water because 1) They don't know any better 2) They can't afford a filter 3) They like playing guessing games with their plants.

I guarantee you that you will see no improvement by using tap water instead of RO treated with Calmag... If anything you'll see a poorer result. That's not why we experiment.
Growing since the early 1980's , I have used RO and tapwater. Have had multiple grows side by side comparing both. My tap water gives me the same harvest as RO but is easier and cheaper than RO.

The only time RO is needed when you have municipal water that sucks bad or well water. My 250ppm tap water is high in cal mag and just a touch of chlorine (not chloramine) and rocks.

i use an RO filter but my tap water comes out at about 105 ppm. i use the dyna-gro nutes so part of that 4 piece nute supply is mag-pro. so i always use that with my water. i also have a bottle of calmag just in case i need it. ive had it since before i bought all the dyna gro stuff so i definitely was in need of it when i was using fox farm. but if my plants look a little less green i add a little bit to it and they've been nothing but a beautiful deep green. i dont have to pay a water bill here so its no problem to have a ro filter for me. i think the water tastes a lot better that way and i wont drink the tap water now that ive been so used to RO water and i wouldnt let my girls drink it either.

Most of us are in urban areas with city reservoirs with water just good enough to piss in. I think it's great that you've had success with your tap water, but I would venture that you are the exception and not the rule.

I guess I'll still continue groping in the dark among my fellow unenlightened.

I don't let my cat drink anything but my RO.

Lol, Didn't mean any disrespect. If you notice I did put a disclaimer to it for shitty tap water or well water. I live in a rural area and we have our own water distribution on top of a huge aquifer.

I would always recommend to have your tap water tested before you were to try it, you can get it done for free usually. Just saying many folks who do not need to use RO do.

I'm in your boat . I even installed a R/O system in my kitchen so my girlfriend can use to cook whatever. Like I said I was born and raised in Phoenix and over here no one drinks tap water I grew up on R/O water so its just how I like to do it.

I use calmg , my tap ppm is 66 i usually let it sit for 10 days , boil it let it cool then add to my res. I have had no problems so far (fingers crossed) but after the first harvest I plan on getting a R/O system just to compare!

My tap will probably very from 150-200, RO from 0-50, I'm using 7.5pm cm, but after reading this thread I might up it to 10 and see if I notice a difference.

This is a hydroponic forum. You should go into general>>>nutrients or indoor growing sections. And give more background info than that if you want honest and accurate answers from experienced members.
