Do you smoke the night before you work?

Retired now but when I worked I never got high on the job. I was the supervisor so it was imperative I keep a clear head, we had some pretty expensive parts, a fuck up could cost us 10's of thousands of dollars and weeks waiting for a replacement casting. So I had to be the adult in the room. When I got home I had one burning as soon as I sat down.
I ran 5 ton decanters/tricanters, a boiler room, discstack centrifuges while heating/mixing/processing reclaim crude oil, taking in trucks, sending brine out & making sales.

I made 50k/year to run the plant. I was not gonna not smoke. F that. I sent out 5 trucks AT LEAST each week when the prices were $96 and up for west Texas intermediate, each truck carrying 165bbl-185bbl. I was always careful and I never had any mistakes/fuck ups.

Some people can't handle their shit and need to be clear when working. Me, I'm always gonna smoke. ALWAYS

I also drank Coffee most of the time I worked, but not to late at night.
I used to drink coffee all night. Was the night manager of a coffee house for a bunch of years in my younger days...could drink the stuff all day and all night and sleep just fine. Then something happened and I realized it was causing me late night insomnia and weird anxiety at that time. I cut it back to any time before 1pm is fine but after that no.

More recently I find 10-20mg THC as edibles mid evening (like 9:30pm) does the trick to put me to sleep fast once I turn out the light and keeps me asleep until the alarm goes off at 5.45am.

Generally not looking for any altering during work hours. Some people can do it just fine, I end up feeling like I'm missing stuff or not quite as in control of my mental focus if I do.

Yep coffee and cannabis go together like peanut butter and jelly. I love coffee but never really have the time anymore make it. Also no more free coffee at work so that makes it a bit more pricey haha. I make it from time to time but mostly in the fall and winter. Summer time is a time for cold drinks. Ice coffee sometimes but since I'm often hot I always drink a lot of water.

Back in the 80's I ran a huge oven at a food processing plant.

I quit coffee cold turkey decades ago because it started causing the same issues you describe. I was a very heavy coffee drinker for years. I miss the taste but not the effect of the caffeine.

I make a '6 cup' french press every morning, but it's 1/3rd caffeinated, 2/3 decaf. That stops me from making a big 12 cup pot and limits both my intake and my caffeine in a couple ways.

I have friends who roast professionally so we have good coffee to work with but I do best with limiting intake. For a while it was just CBD at night which took care of any inner dialog but didn't make me sleep. The 10-20mg THC really drops me nicely.

If I eat an edible late afternoon/early evening I wake up all fucked up in the early morning hours. I have a few bong hits before I go to bed to help me sleep. Sometimes it takes me a bit to wake up in the morning and get going

Does it make you slower the next day? Is it more or less beneficial?
I smoke all the time, heavier on my off days. But yes i smoke the night before, up to 4 hours before. By the time I leave Im 100% sober. I wouldnt really say it changes my work habits though as I do my required job either way because its my job.

Dumbass mistakes like this come to mind. I guess it seemed like a good idea at the time.
This is just plain fuckn stupid. I tried to fight a lathe. Yes something desined to have something constantly rubbing up against it shaving material way. I think most users are way smarter than this, and in my experience some of the stupidest people I have met are completely straightedge

I’ve always gotten up early and mj doesn’t seem to effect my morning. Thats one of the reasons I’ve always been much more a smoker than drinker. That HAS to wait for Friday

personally I only smoke when my kids have gone to bed and I’m done for the day. Usually around 8pm and beyond.

maybe it’s different in the USA with decriminalisation etc but if I rocked up to my job stinking of weed I’d get the sack because it’s an illegal substance.
A lot of people choose vaping as their method of smoking at work, im in the states in an illegal state where only 2 counties and 1 city have decriminalization. Everyone and I mean everyone has a cart on them. You could almost walk up to someone if you know em well enough and ask for a toke. I just don't like carts and I dont smoke right before work for the same reason

I smoke two joints in the morning
I smoke two joints at night
I smoke two joints in the afternoon, it makes me feel alright
I smoke two joints in time of peace, and two in time of war
I smoke two joints before I smoke two joints
And then I smoke two more
So, at the end there...Is he gonna smoke 4 joints or 6? "Smoke 2 joints before I smoke 2 joints and then I smoke 2 more."

Really depends on the job, whether it's okay to be stoned during. Like if you work at an aquarium store...duh. But if you are a cop or doing social services or something, of course not. Fast food workers yes, Doctors no. Basically any low paid activity benefits from cannabis, but with any high paid activity, smoke after work.
While I can see your reasoning....no...i make almost 27 an hour at my job, and though I work around large printing presses, theres hardly an opportunity for me to hurt someone as most positions on press dont require a 2nd person other than heavy lifting. Or moving printing rollers in and out of the press. I think its more if your profession is in the health care, legal, or if you operate large dangerous equipment like cranes bulldozers various constuction equipment. You know when someone elses well being is in your hands directly.
My lunch box ……… or is it ?

Smoking almost everyday since I was 16. Lots of days before, during, and after work. Everyone else at work is high in some way. I make movies for a living. I definitely can get burnt out if I'm smoking a few to many bowls in a day. I have also noticed some memory troubles smoking long term. Doubt I'll ever quit though, atleast permanently.
