Well the employer method of controlling employees by keeping them too broke they cant afford to miss time from work to look for a better paying job does work , im sorry you use that method ,i'd bet it keeps you tied to your business .

I prefer to pay people enough they are happy to work for me & can work unsupervised ,both businesses i owned are on auto pilot & ran by well paid happy employees .

one simple question. How much would you pay someone to attend a laundromat ?

wage raises are good to a point all I know is a teacher shouldn't make as much as a doctor.. and that's about what you have going on in my city

At LEAST $15 an hour.

Based on a 40 hour week that'd be $28,800 a year (based on a 48 week year) plus the employers cut of Obamacare costs.

I don't know how much your customers pay, but that's alot of shirts washed to pay that one persons wages alone; also it'd only cover 8 hours of the day and assumes there are zero costs attached to the premises, etc. (Which is ridiculous, obviously).

Employment carries no, guarantees, you can`t assume the company will not change hands or go out....

People expect to be awarded good jobs or that they deserve good pay for just being employed at the company.

Nobody wants to be there own destiny anymore. I got a guy that if he want five bucks more this year, he`ll get it because I value him and don`t wish to train another for so long again, business will drop, so one of my guys got it good with me. Can I replace him or survive without him? sure, but I don`t wish to go that route. When you have an abundance of legal or illegal workers willing to work for said pay because they bundle bills with co-tenants and it`s doable, you got your work cut out for you. There`s that word again,....work.

Why does everyone expect handouts ?

It`s 2015, back when Nixon (I believe) took this Nation out of industrialization, and into this Retail thingy,...we were warned of the consequences, employers will no longer need your experience, With exceptions in medical or the trades and a few others, every small start job is basically a cashier.

Today`s politicians have made sure that your extra hard work, will go to someone else. Your Employer can`t afford to reward you when Juan needs insurance over in Texas......

Hmmm good question & one i have no answer for since i dont know all the services your laundromat offers , or the net profit of the business , there are many different type laundromats .

The laundromat we use offers alot of services , they pick up all our rugs & draperies once a year , clean them then bring them all back & reinstall everything in its place , they offer rug repair & clothing repair ,they pick up & launder all my wifes quilts & bring them back , they offer wet or dry upholstery cleaning as well as dry cleaning of clothing , they offer same day laundry service as well as having dozens of coin operated machines for the DIY people .

What services do you offer & whats your net ?, i cant make an estimation without knowing all the facts .

One of mine run about the same as yours ( don't do rug or draperies pick ups), the other is pretty much coinage only DYI.
Now again how much would you hire an attended to run the coin only laundromat?

Your question isnt as cut & dried as yes or no.

I dont think that small private owned businesses who are making low yeild returns from their business should be mandated to pay a wage that will shut their doors .

I also dont think huge corporations like Shitmart should be allowed to pay as low a wage as businesses like Londonfogs stores , the huge corporate companies allready recieve tax breaks & government incentives that most small business owners do not recieve .

I do not think wildly profitable business should be able to take advantage of the minimum wage laws , if they are allowed to pay the same wages as small private business then all the incentives they recieve in tax breaks & low to non existant property tax rates should be taxen away from them .
