so you agree with me that he messed it up by choosing palin?
God yeah. I would have been happy with McCain/Liberman like it looked like he really wanted. That would have been a great presidency.

after seeing about the 100th 'code pink' lady being dragged out for the same behavior to the applause of republicans, i though we would all in agreement on the issue. apparently its ok to disrupt and sabotage the democratic process if you're a republican.
Ron Paul is a Republican and he is against being in Iraq.

and that is where we sharply disagree.
Your looking at just the campaign. Go further back, it was him that fought for the dixie chicks when everyone was bashing them, he is pro-science, he voted in favor of Clinton's judges, he is against large political contributions, on and on. For most his career he has been told to leave the republican party for his social views.

I do agree he went off the rails for the campaign, but those few months aside when all politicians sell their souls to get into the presidency he was very good for the country. But you saw some of it come out when he started to shake off the hate that was building when that old lady called Obama a muslim.

Opposing the current war is mainly supported by Democrates. Did you watch the debates? If you didn't then how do you know where the Republican party stands. If you did then you'd have notice Ron Paul was the only Republican who was against the US being in Iraq.
I thought he is a libertarian.

he didnt just go off the rails. he introduced someone who was completely and throughly unqualified to president. he clearly created a chaos risk for no reason but to win. that was a reckless and endangering move imho. not only do i find him reckless, but also prone to tirades and tantrums, unbelievably careless with his words, (in far more of a deliberate way than either bush or obama). i think that on a diplomatic level he would be a nightmare and under stress and anger he would make the worst decisions of all with haste.

Were you around for the campaigns? I suppose you only watched the Democratic debates eh? He ran on the republican ticket, Here I found a nice clip on youtube, I think you might like it, he puts all the other republicans in their place.

Presidential hopefuls must either run for R or D as we have a 2 party system. Running for a 3rd party is political suicide, you can't win. So until the house and senate have 3rd party members there will always only be 2 sides, it was designed to keep us occupied with our differences while the men behind the scenes fleece us all.

Yeah that is what I thought had happened. I knew that he ran on the republican ticket, but thought that he was normally a libertarian.

He was forced to pick her, he did not want to.

If he would have went with a more liberal running mate he would have lost by a HUGE margin. The republicans have always disliked (mostly) McCain because of his independent streak and the fact that almost every religious issue he disagrees with them on, which is why I really liked him. If he did not have a very social conservative it would have been disasterous.

Although I am a Dem I may have voted for him over Obama if he had Lieberman and ran his campaign and not the Republican campaign. Because it would not have been much difference between the two of them no matter what people would like to believe.

i understand that, and it only strengthens my argument that he would not be a good candidate for most powerful leader on the planet. yes i know they're all puppets, but mccain almost seemed comfortable with the role.

last thought on the topic (apparently this forum is being closed)

by enthusiastically attacking their only true means of publicly scrutinizing their
elected officials, as well as robbing everyone else of their right to question rationally,
all to the tune of the most ironic chant ever "HEAR OUR VOICE!", they are the epitome of 'fail'.

Do people have the right to organize and shut down town hall discussion?

Would one individual be within his/her constitutional rights to enter a town hall meeting and place a gag in the mouth of another individual to prevent that person from exercising his/her constitutional rights to free speech?

What ever applies to an individual, applies to a mob.

Since the OP had no problem with bashing the last president....what has changed except his principles?

The folks at the Town Halls are fed up with the govt. creating a crisis and then running up the debt to fix the crisis (which of course doesn't fix it).

No one wants to saddle future generations with mountains of IOU's for a two year recession.

No one wants a Govt. which thinks it needn't answer to the public.

It's all starting to unravel for Obama and rightfully so.... his policies reek of socialism and inexperience in economics.

If Obama continues to ignore the ppl, and continue in his elitist ways with Congress, the next step will be a Constitutional convention.

Then I guess you didn't read my post......

What? You want to know if protesting a protest is good citizenship?

It's hard to believe you are confused on the answer and need to ask.....

yes i did.

sentence 1: you accuse me of being a hypocrite. (not the topic)

sentence 2: you said that people at town halls are 'fed up'. (not the topic)

sentence 3: more on why people who you agree with are 'fed up' (not the topic)

sentence 4: you bashed obama because he is the sum of all evil apparently. fine. (not the topic)

sentence 5: more on how obama is evil and shall repeth what he sows (end meaningless off-topic grandstanding)

its fascinating how you continue on this same non-contributory trend while claiming to be on topic.

What? You want to know if protesting a protest is good citizenship?[/B]
yes thats exactly what i never even implied.

It's hard to believe you are confused on the answer and need to ask.....
while you expressed your support for tea-party people, and are fed up with obama, you never addressed the topic. you implied an answer, so i guess we'll mark it down as a 'yes'.

so...ok, you expressed that a group of people has the freedom to not allow anyone to express their freedom of speech and assemby a town hall meeting, particularly those who are of a liberal persuasion. thus its clear that you are in support of some stripping of constitutional rights, just as long as they are not yours.

however you never explained the reason why you apparently have the right to forbid me from speaking at a town-hall meeting, just because you found some loud and intimidating friends and brought them with you to shut it down.
