Do I have an issue?

Hi Gang!

I am wondering if I have an early case of root rot or if it’s something else. I have some leaves turning brown and the roots are turning a little brown too. I use FF trio with big bloom, which is a brown liquid, so I am wondering if the brown roots are from the nutes or if it’s the start of root rot.

I keep temps in the tent around 80 degrees and water temp around 70 degrees. Humidity is around 40. I grow in DWC with hydroton in 5 gal buckets. I have one HLG600R. I keep PH around 5.8 and check everyday. I have the PPMs for this plant at about 600 right now.

Any insight would be helpful.

is big bloom a flowering nute i take it,are they in flowering or still vegging??dont keep ph at 5.8 constantly ,i set it to 5.6 and let it rise through to 6.2-6.4 then back down again so the plant gets a variety of nutes from the ph range.

According to fox farms feeding schedule it is given throughout veg and flowering. It is a NPK mix. Do you think I could have a nutrient deficiency then?

i'd use a little hydrogen peroxide or pool shock just to keep things nice and clean. it very well could be nothing, but your water temps are too high to stop anything from growing.
pool shock is cheap and easy. you just add 1.5 grams to a gallon of water. then you use 1 oz of that solution per 5 gallons of res volume. reapply every three days, and your roots will stay pearly white and your res will stay clean.
once that's done, then you can diagnose other problems with a little more accuracy.
is there any bad smell to the roots? are they slimy at all? they don't look that bad, but those plants look over watered to me, and a healthy plant in hydroton should never look over watered, which may indicate a root problem

they've broken down the nutrients into different bottles, probably to get away with not using a chelating agent.
calcium and sulfur are notorious for not getting along, if you're mixing this stuff, make sure you mix the part with the calcium in first and give it ten or fifteen minutes to dissolve completely before you add the part with the sulfur. they can combine and the calcium sulfate drops to the bottom of your bucket as black sand that won't dissolve anymore

Appreciate the insight Roger. I am going to give the hydrogen peroxide a try and see how that works. Do you have any recommendations on which nute brands are best for dwc hydro?

i'm a Jack's fan. i use the 3-2-1 system with Jack's 5-11-26, calcium nitrate, and epsom salts, and some monopotassium phosphate for when they start to swell.
it works and it's pretty cheap compared to most other nutes

Hey Roger, any idea what could be causing this plant to droop and have purple stems?

purple stems probably aren't a problem, usually a generic trait. can be caused by cold temps, but you'd notice your other plants having the same issue if that was the case.
the drooping can be caused by underwatering, but that doesn't look like an issue. sometimes a little too much light can make them do that, do they droop all the time or just towards the end of their day?

The one plant has been drooping like this for about 4 days now. All the others look good so that’s why I’m confused.

You don't happen to have a fan hitting the droopy plant hard, do you?

Double check the temp readings sounds low to me

Temp in the tent is around 82 degrees and water temp around 71 degrees. Fan is on it a little bit but not more than the others in the tent.
