Hi my buddy stressed his Dutch passion blueberry plants which were all females from fem seeds, he got a few hundred seeds when some hermied. I read that those hermie seeds should be exact copies of original seeds planted, is this true? Does anyone have experience planting seeds picked from a hermie? Thanks.

seeds are replicas of their host. If it was a hermie the seeds will 99% hermie as well.

They should be "female seeds" plant some and check for hermies. You have to understand there will be an icreased likelyhood of hermaphroditism especially when you consider that the last two generations of these seeds were born to a hermaphrodite whether she was forced or not it's going to be imbedded in their gene code and any kind of stress are likely to cause them to switch.
^^^ hey thanks this is what I am expecting, so if I have plenty of seeds, can I just grow more then I need and then cull the hermied if they appear, and also when do u think the hermaphrodism traits would become apparent, same time as other plants turn female, others will turn heshes, or would they all be female and then some will turn hermie well into flowering? From what i read on the subject, it depends on the conditions in which the plant was stressed into becoming a hermie. aka, did you get hermie seeds that had a good chance of turning out that way, was it due to light stress on a female or leaving a female in flower an extra few weeks. here is the thread that i was reading, lots of good information on it there. https://www.rollitup.org/advanced-marijuana-cultivation/174573-hermie-seeds.html (jump to page 3 and start reading there)
Thanks will do! Well he had 8' monsters with 5 weeks to go and he overheated the shit out of them because they got too close...when he chopped them there were seeds in some and not others.

See that's what I'm talking about his plants turned hermie on them from a little bit of stress. Just grow them out and pull any hermies if you see them. Personally I would just scrap the whole project if they turned hermie not worth the effort in my opinion but if you want just pull them and watch for more hermies throughout the entire grow.

You'll have to weigh the costs and benefits of doing that yourself my friend... i personally would say screw it, but i'm after 100% quality and i also wouldn't want any pollen sticking around in my flower room. But if you are growing for commercial reasons, people will buy good bud with seeds in it for a lesser price. Also, i don't know what kind of time frame you are working with and whether you are interested in breeding...but, if you have a female plant and you use pollen from the hermie to pollinate the lower branches or any branches, i believe it gives you feminized seeds!(someone correct me if im wrong)
Hey thanks for reply I read that thread and it answered some questions...this is definitely not commercial type of grow but it will have to be done and over with by the time June hits because my brother will be moving out from his place. I would prefer to get stable quality genetics as well but waiting 3 more weeks for stuff to arrive will definitely be more of inconvenience then just starting with 30 seeds and eliminating all the herms and keeping the stable females...one last thing, will the herms express themselves when the female traits appear or a bit down the road, I mean sure some may turn down the road but generally do herms express down the road or whenever they want to?

the only real experience i ever had with a hermie was a down the road type of situation and there were not many seeds at all only a few, more little pods than seeds.. anyways, just some of the bottom buds had them, it was really akward.. i almost think they were just starting to turn when i picked them... as for your question though, that one is over my head because my experience is limited.. so hopefully someone else can chime in on that one

I know this thread is old but im adding to it. I have two female trainwreck plants growing neither are natural hermies. But one was stress hermied I thankfully caught in time but a couple of pollen sacks popped up literally only three throughout two plants. well I checked them everyday and caught the two pollen sacks before they could release their pollen but one did open up and impregnate both plants, including a bubba kush female I had in flower. The plants have been flowering normally for the past two weeks and have checked them everyday to make sure that they weren't only making seeds. An average of two to three calyxes are swollen on each bud which I can tell have seeds in them. Well im going to plant as many seeds as I can and keep updates and records on RIU to show how many seeds turn out to be male, female, hermie ect. Hopefully by the time im done we will have a better understanding of stress hermied plants and the seeds they produce.

OK well iam In the last few weeks of flowering and I also stressed my plant and got only seeds from the undeveloped bottom branches which was fine too me because they r the ones I don't really smoke anyway... Now the rest of the plant had only 5 or six in it... The weed is one of the teasty weed I have smoked and buds r thick and sticky as hell so I would toss try and see how u like it... This is only my opinion.....

I'll jump into this relic of a thread.
The first cross I ever made was by using pollen from nanners that formed towards the end of flowering. All the seeds were female and there was never an instance of the cross becoming hermie in years of growing it. But nanners on a female plant isn't a hermie. A hermie will have actual male parts in the form of balls.
