DIY with Quantum Boards

hmmmmm I did some digging and whoever you bought it from may have misrepresented the specs. Here right from the company: (BTW not trying to knock your purchase, just think you've been decieved )

There are several models, not sure which one this is.

https://sielo.com/products/sr12/

It is a decorative light, but I posted because it a colorado company and I don't think hlg should be manufacturing their own boards, too expensive and too risky. Perhaps they could partner with someone else if they haven't already.

I'm sure they'll clarify this but, some boards are now made by Samsung, and the other I think they mean that they themselves will become a manufacturer. Hmmm the materials, a few flow ovens........

I just don't think the economy of scale is in their favor, maybe I'm wrong and they can sell 10K units a month.

How many do you think they have to sell per month to get Samsung to make them???...... think on that. For Samsung to take notice.
Yeah I meant 10k a month was on the low end...that comes out to a few million diodes per month that's probably more than anyone else has in stock

It's not that I don't think they can do it, its that I don't think they should. I'm sure they have good idea how many units they can sell, and how fast they can be made, but when led tech moves on from quantum boards, I think it would hurt them to have the overhead of a potentially obsolete manufacturing facility.

Just my .02, I been wrong before.

Smt will be king for quite some time. 95% of led grow lights are smt. Best part is at some point we can make really affordable drivers as well. Yeah we could've bought a few Ferraris but hey what's the fun in that right lol.

at 300watts I wouldn't think your going to have them at 12inches from the canopy. Certainly make great lights in the right room.
