DIY with Quantum Boards

Let the games begin. In between the panels are filled in with .063 aluminum to seal so we have our coolhood design. Not shown in picture. This allows my smell and heat to be removed. The tomatoes smell indoors.
Dude this is the fixture i wanna make! thank you very very much!

320w in a 2x4(8sqft) seems fair to me. About 20 par watts per sqft. Plus it can be turned down. I probably would of used 3 boards though.
I installed a dimmer for that same reason...Also why I chose the 2800B and not the A driver... ✌

Good to know, no need for heat sinks means less cost and fuss. So that's certainly an advantage over COBs. No way around heat sinks on them. Granted fans cost money too but probably less.
Fans seem like more of a hassle. I like the passive heatsink route.

Advantages over COBs...
Not as hot
Higher lumens/watt
Nicer spread

Hard to watch, Growmau5 seems too blown and scatter brained today.bongsmilie
He kind of blew off the QB questions I was interested in.

But he did say 300 watts wasn't enough for a 3x3. Which is not in synch with what the advice here has been.

My boards are barely warm to the touch at 50 watts each in my grow. Tuned to about 300 cfm the exhaust is overkill, which helps a lot. With airflow over the back of the panels you maybe could get away with 80 watts per board no heatsink without sacrificing longevity.

From what i'm seeing, 300 watts of QB is overkill in a 3x3 unless genetics is a factor. My plants were showing signs of too much light at 150 watts.
Until we have enough real world application to look at we only have theory for the most part based on COB tech. We may find that 15 par watts per sqft will rival a gavita. Time will tell.

Thanks for the feedback.
