DIY with Quantum Boards

I saw this. And when they call it a 3000 that's pretty deceiving. I wouldn't spend my money on a Chinese light, but that's me. HLG has a 15% deal going this month. I just have always bought the good stuff.

par map not the best coverage. better off with bar light and fixture size matching tent coverage. level those photons out.

They made it to the finish line, that's all that matters! Next run you'll do better!

Not sure if my hlg 135 kit counts but check this whole seed run I’m about done with.. I have many problems that I’ll hope to fix next run. I may be locked out. Temperature issues of highs and lows throughout the run, root bound. Improper pH’d water. But some cool colors I think Had 4 good looking ones going. One turned to be a monster male with a ton of sacs (not the clone in pic) and also 3 other distinctively looking types. All bag seed

Well … looks like im gonna solve the plant overflow issue …

Received the Green Architecture tent and pulled QB225 out of mothballs. I plan to just construct frame only and hang light openly for them. Still waiting for kids to finish pulling rest of their shit out of room so I can repaint and setup , but for meantime I can give them a dedicated light instead of fringe lighting.

Those two forward plants have already sexed so light will continue their growth.

What’s up fellas

I’m making the switch to HLG and I’m thinking of going for the 650r.

will 2 650r lights be enough for a 8x4 tent?

Also do you guys recommend refurbs?

I think it’s awesome that HLG provides this option to customers. It’s pretty enticing as I could save about $700 between both lights but I don’t want to make a mistake and buy something that won’t last as long as a new one just to save a some dollars.

I’m just looking for guidance..

It's plenty for an 8x4 but tent height matters a lot. These need over 2 feet of clearance for full power, youre not likely to be able to use them at full power unless you have really high ceilings and/or open space.

Dammit. I have 6.6 ft in height. Is there a reason it needs so much clearance? What’s your opinion on reburbs???

It's very powerful, it has enough power for a 5x5 really but it's boards are more concentrated in the middle. The scorpion and the 350R has a bit more spread out designs and will work better if you want lower hanging height but we're still talking +15". The 650R is about 28-30" iirc. With pots, filters/extraction, hanging height your plants only got so much space to grow vertical.

You can always run the 650R softer though cause you really won't need more than 480w or so per 4x4.

I built my DIY 650r with a pair of HLG240H-C2100b drivers to limit them to 480 watts. Prefect for a 4x4 tent without CO2 enhancement. Dim them 650r to 480-500 watts and you'll get great results.
The refurbs are a great deal! my experience in the computer business selling refurb printers etc, showed me that the refurbs were more rliable than new products! And HLG warranties them.

Thanks for sharing man. Would running the 650r at full blast be overkill? I had seen in another thread that you want at least 40 watts per sqft?? I’m so confused lmao.

thanks man. I really appreciate the input. I’m going to look into those. Just not sure about the whole clearance thing. Is it because lights get too hot? Or what’s the reason for needing 2 feet?

Update :

Well me quantum OG rig made BERTA touch the ceiling . So ….. I had to give main terminal bud a Vulcan neck pinch.
Figured before any weight happens I could form a knuckle. Gave her some Silica to help heal the wound as the week goes on.
Very end tip is already pointing up. Wax coated string holding her in place until it sets.

Rest of plant is stacking up nicely. No big changes other than 1.4 - 1.5 EC .

Yesterday :

Now I can bump the light up without torching that bud.

Wondering how big she would have been if I ran it at 5 gallon …..

I finally put together a frame for 4 qb288 v1s that I bought up when they were cheap. I've been a busy guy, haven't updated anything in a long time...
These plants were under the 4 qb 132's in my profile Pic which I chopped the frame on to make it fit in one of my 3x3s instead of a 2x4. They are two weeks into flower now... can't wait to see how they turn out.
I'm considering getting some qb288 bspecs for one of my 2x4 tents but wow are they expensive.20211030_154251.jpg
