Time to rock n' roll

Runs way cooler..just raises ambient by about 3*F now. Can even turn the fan about halfway down to make it a bit less noisy. Done with testing for now..maybe later. Got a par meter on the way so I'll take some measurements later

Managed to get some 3k abs. Much thanks to that bro! So it's all 3k...if I think I need more blue I'll throw the 4ks in later. 14 oslon hyper reds and 3 5w 365nm leds. Total draw is 402w with fans at lowest setting and 420w (it's a sign :shock:) on fastest.

Going to veg about a week or so..

8 3070s, nice sized grow bags, and blumats. Going to be good!

How many AB bin did you grab just 2 or did you do all 8? :fire:

edit: BTW what grow bags are those they look really quality and thick.

All 8 are the ab. Have a bunch of extra cxa now..the performance difference was pretty large so switched them all.

The bags are 5g geopots. Gonna go no till so I needed something more durable than smart pots. They are really nice and solid...http://www.geopot.com

I managed to get 8 AB's also off the same bro.. I imagine

So I have 10 total, 2 being z4's. Its going to take me a bit to get all the rest of the parts together as I spent more than my budget on the cobs. I was only looking for 2 more but when I saw the opportunity for more I jumped on it. An impulse buy I wont regret

I'm going on a cob buying break for sure. I thought the z2 bin was the best they would make available...now we all know they are capable of releasing efficient cobs. AB is the new standard...maybe z4 at least.

These cobs should be great until they hit 180 - 200 l/w at 1a...then it'll be time to think of an upgrade. At that point hid would be horribly inefficient. Bet the big companies come out around then with their own lineup

I agree I also will be sticking with the AB bins for quite some time until something drastically better comes out.

Positivty, I just reread your thread earlier today just to be safe I didnt miss anything crucial- SO FAR my only question for you is are there any precautions you took that are worth noting with the higher voltage drivers? Im looking at nabbing a couple HLG- Meanwells (264v max) and dont feel like lighting myself up. It seems pretty straight forward- dont plug in until all connections are done, but maybe I am missing something? Maybe in the testing the individual parts and such.

Thank you brother and you have been an inspiration for several of us. Im a little worried about such a high draw in such a small space (so Ive made sure to get a dimming option) but i am used to cramming some watts. Be safe!!

Just was extra careful with setting things up. 10a fused c14 inlet...14g wire to a terminal block...18g wire to the drivers..ground to the heatsink...no wire chaffing...no loose things like wire nuts can be. Actually got a small earth leakage circuit breaker like someone recommended but had nowhere to put it. My GFCI at the plug should offer me a good deal of protection.

Definitely no working on things plugged in. I've been good about that..don't like getting shocked.

May get a case for it.. so there's no exposed wiring period. And more room to cleanly mount things.

But the argument is solid...why take the risk when you don't have to.

I can't recommend it..I'm not an expert by any means. But it does work...and it did save me from having to deal with 8 seperate drivers.
Eventually I think they'll be standard issue on cob lights..just hardly anyone using them so far

Thank you brossif, i sadly had to google a couple of those terms and had a "OOOO, yea!" moment. You just put those in order for me didn't you? Connection wise... inlet-->terminal-->drivers so the whole system is on one power cord? (thats my goal, dont like the idea of wires everywhere..)

Very tidy giddup pos, wish I could figure out how to rep again. props to you, supe, and the rest of those pioneers out here!


Edit: is there a specific inlet we are looking for? I know you specified C14 and 10a, what details should we look out for? Noticed several differnet styles on digikey.

I know you've been using them for a while and wondered what you thought about the them and what kind of options are out there? Without them I can get the CXA's very close,how far do you keep yours with them? I'm thinking of trying a vertical scrog with the CXA's and thought I may want to add reflectors for that type of set up,what do you think about that?

The only option I found available for sale were the ledil Angelina wide. If I remember correctly even the other tighter beam options had a huge minimum order. I just got a little lucky that the holder, adapter, and ledil wide were available.

Ledil does have a wider 78 optic available now..the Stella series. Has it's own reflector holder I think. For the 3070 or 3590. The only one I've seen for the 3590.

I've been keeping it at two feet above canopy for now. Haven't really played with heights much yet. Waiting on my par meter to arrive so I can really dial in the lighting. I'll do some tests and post the results with and without the 52* Angelina wide

Anytime you want some penetration..other than multiple panel side lighting....I think some form of optic is needed. I'm really happy with these reflectors so far...wait for the par numbers to really know though

About 5 days vegging

Plants are squatter than they've ever been. Not the healthiest though..not as healthy as the veg room.

Starting to wonder if the 3 UVA leds are too much. Might drop it down to just the one in the center and use the extra in other areas like veg room

Put a peyote purple from veg room in front of the one in flower room..you can see the different growth structure..smaller leaves..

Not going to flower till I can get the health sorted out. Might just need a good flush or two..

Made the call..disconnected the 2 365nm leds on the ends of sink. Leaves of plants seemed a little damaged. Could be heat stress,hot soil, light intensity, etc...at least one less variable. Left the wires since these stars are a bitch to solder..may put them back later..

Thanks for this heads-up on Inventronics, caused me to search around and 1st thing I typed into Ebay.......

[Dirt Cheap...] Makes me wonder a bit?

......I just messaged back and forth with Supra about a [4x] 3070's setup @ 700ma ....pretty much replaces 4 Meanwell APC's, that I was going to use. For less than half the cost!!!!

----However, I have to google the Model#, as I am not 100% that is a CC driver but looks to be.....

Just the first one a I saw, kind of a interesting take on what you typed above, a hybrid driver, high voltage but not ran in series, if I am not mistaken.
