well here is another diy project i am going to share with the riu group ... so i have kinda a heat issue as does the entire eastern half of the usa. well i built a co2 dispenser and a ac ..

take any old cooler your not going to use and it needs to be big enough to drill a 3 inch hole..or 4 inch..
drill hole in the lid for vent hose to draw from and a smaller hole on the other side so it has a intake and doesn't burn the fan up..

install vent hose in the 3-4 in hole and on the other end of the vent hose install a 4inch inline fan ..

put dry ice in cooler and close the lid..

direct the fan towards the area you want the co2 and cool air. set your exhaust fan on a timer so the room will fill with the co2 and with it being drawn from the dryice cooler its a lot cooler air and a cooler way to add co2 to your room...

THIS IS AN EXPERIMENT AND I AM NOT STATING ANY KIND OF RESULTS FROM THIS YET.. I JUST INSTALLED IT AND WILL GIVE FEEDBACK ON A DAILY BASIS.. new pics 020.jpgnew pics 021.jpgnew pics 023.jpg

girls wake up at 7pm est. and this is pics of buds at 6weeks with no co2 until i installed my new toy... new pics 028.jpgnew pics 031.jpgnew pics 031.jpgnew pics 024.jpgnew pics 029.jpg still have a few weeks to go so i hope they beef up a lil more.. these are clones from my last round but like a stoner i mixed up lables and don't remember witch is witch so its either cheese candy bubblegummer,or blue dream. either way there a staple in my room.. going to add a northern lights x skunk that i have outside ,i am going to clone that and put that in when they root and the bigger girls are done, trying to keep smoke but its really hard to do when your only working with a flower room and a mini cabinet for mothers.. i use the outside during the summer months but always seem to bring in bugs.. never any rest for the weary when you grow your own smoke..will show pics tonight to see if the co2/a/c cooler didn't kill anything over night.. temps stayed in the high 70's low 80's all nite so no rest from the heat either...

I just bought a portable AC for 400+ bucks. I should've looked here first. What was I thinking!!

well as far as an a/c unit don't count on it being a good source of a/c ,but if you need a cheep good way of co2 boosting then this is the trick.. so it is no longer listed as a ac/co2 dispenser its just a co2 dispenser..if you put your fan on a timer and blow in what u need while the fan is off..

Buying 5-10 lbs a day of dry ice is fine when your ac goes out, but not practical on a daily basis if you actually require active cooling.

I'd have to do the math, but I question if it wouldn't be more expensive in the long run to do this.

That's a shit ton of dry ice after after an entire grow, not to mention your time involved.

yep that's why i went to just a co2 dispenser i did the calculations and its as much as buying a small window a/c unit every grow..lmao.. dryice is .99 cents a pound and 5 lbs last 3 days on 24/7 ..with it in a timer the ice lasted almost 5 days. so basically it's a buck a day and beings that my flower room is on 365 days then its going to be cheaper to buy an a/c unit once and add a lil co2 when needed.. but it was a shot and like you said it will do in a pinch.. if my a/c goes out..

Good deal, I somehow missed that.

I'm all for DIY and dig the thought experiments.

Keep on tinkering!

Using an icebox as a air conditioner is actually something that pilots will do to cool the cabin of smaller (2 or 4 seat) planes. Obviously they don't use dry ice.. but.. the principle is the same. An A/C on a small plane can easily cost 20 thousand dollars.
