DIY 4oz. minimum yield grow box

so, i'm thinking of setting this thing up.


seems easy enough, and 'userfriendly' is exactly what i need.

but i was thinking. has anyone taken a design like this but instead of planting into pots, just line the whole bottom container with soil...

it would be an indoor grow with an outdoor feel (for the plant i'm thinking).
it might allow for deeper and better root development which migh produce better yeild.

i know that if males appear that might be an issue, but you can always just cut it down at the base and the roots shouldn't remain an issue.

plus i can make small drill holes in the container to allow for water release....

please let me know as i'm thinking that it's a good idea.

yeah came bulbs does different light spectrums, you wanna throw as many of these together(cool for veg, and warm for flower)as you can without causing a fire hazard:mrgreen:

also does 150 watt equiv actually mean it doesn't say 150 on the package?

One has nothing to do with the other. Spectrum represents "mimicking", in the simplest definition if you will, the power of the sun throughout the season. This is why the HPS spectrum is best for flowering since the "reds" are more prevalent in sunlight during this period when the natural growing season would typically come to an end.

what about the Metal Halide and summer you cant have a harvest without a vegetative growth cycle.:blsmoke::hump:

It's a bathroom light fixture, to hang above your mirror. They come in diff sizes. You'll find them in the lighting area along with the other fixtures, ceiling fans, etc.:blsmoke:

i saw soem of those things, but how do i turn that into a wall socket thing? i know nothing about electrical work...but i think think that a basic bathroom track light has a wall plug.

that's the issue i was having with HPS/MH ballasts...thus the CFL grow.

You can buy an extension cord for a normal type lamp. There are just two wires (a pos and neg), and the other end is a plug for your wall. Just splice them to your fixture and plug it in the wall.

Hey guys this is a good desing,I was using it with my grow, make sure you ventilate it enough heat will be an issue, I was using this in combinaton with my dwc, but the dwc requires so much maintanance with the ph and such that is was too much of a pain so I took it apart, but I am thinking of using the box in conjunction with some hempy buckets.......what do you think dave??

yea thats tru..to much shit you have to do to hydro..sucks pullin the top on and off. we had it so we watered it like every other day. easy.
honestly bigd i have no idea what hempy pots are..what are they man?

dude do a search its so simple that its hard to explain if that makes any sense lol, its like passive hydro, none of the fus of the hydro, and none of the mess of soil, as I understand it once they get going you only have to water every other day or so, so I think it would work great in this setfuck it I am going to set it up today.... I am going to snatch a few seedlings out of my AG and put them in hempy buckets inside of gow tub.........

if you can make a coffee table with screen for the top then you my freind have it down. all your doing is focusing the light to the buds only and the bottom does not see much light anyways so you end up with a table of fat colas. instead of a few big colas and some popcorn buds.:blsmoke:
