I got a pack 20+ years ago and I still am not sure what was in it.
Sounds kinda like sagmarthas 60/40 but that at least had that for a name I don't think I can ever remember getting a pack that's no name mixed packs yeah but not all the one thing and no name that's a strange one

I don't want to name the seedbank. I am not trying to slam them because I like them. They probly ran out of stock. I am still not sure what it was. I don't want to name the strain that it was or wasn't. I still have crosses of it to get back to. Was the pack right? Honestly I don't know but I suspect it was another thing they were working on.

I am not sure where this post should have gone. I can't relax in toke and talk and wasn't sure where to post this. It came from a seed bank so I put it here. Just bored.
Seems appropriate to me! I got a pack from a top notch breeder that had one plant that was very sativa in growth, totally different than all the other plants in every way. It was pricey, so I was a little annoyed, but all his gear since has been stellar. I don't think it was just phenotype variation. I think there are more likely to be issues buying from seed banks than breeders with good reputations.

The pack I got was supposed to be something and the plants were ? I made some crosses and the offspring were puzzling too. Sometimes it's better that way.

I was growing a few of these crosses in 2021 in a raided garden so I did not get to revisit them. Very clear up high. Supposed to be white widow and skunk#1 to start with but I don't know. Not like the parents I grew. That's why it's a mystery strain and those are the best kind sometimes. I crossed it with skunk twice to study the effects. At the time Jason King was railing on boring Dutch crosses and so I panned some of mine. But now they don't seem so boring. They seem like things to explore a little more.

The dutch banks of 30-40 years ago are mostly a chapter in the weed history book nowadays. Sensi, GHS, they aren't what they used to be. I think it's still a great idea to get some haze, nl, skunk, afghani seeds and clones and have a chuck fest. I just wouldn't go to any dutch banks to source any of it.

For the most part I agree the have the odd thing worth running the rest isn't the same however there are plenty of smaller and less known breeders and preservationists who's gear is definitely worth running from Europe Ime

I got a pack of freebies just marked freebies I have no idea what they are
That's pretty annoying cos if you find something you like it helps to know a rough idea where to start looking for it why would someone just send it labeled as freebies and nothing else is beyond me

If someone knows enough to buy an expensive pack of seeds, it's almost a guarantee that person won't bother running mystery freebies. And why should they? They could be floor beans for all they know. If they can't put in the effort to give you named freebies, why should anyone put in the effort to grow them out? It's a straight-up dumb practice, and it means those freebies aren't any kind of value added to your purchase.

I grew some Sensi Seeds Blue Moonshine Regulars years ago, and then I decided to grow it again, and all that was available was fems, so I got them.

I grew them out, and they grew into huge, acrid, in a bad way plants. The buds were fluffy huge, and the plants were huge.

The original regulars I grew, grew into a stout, bush, with rock hard buds, and the smell of Blueberry Muffins.
If it had been as good as it looked, it would have been a winner. At best, it was mid grade, mids. The plant structure was great, and yielded like a mofo.
The fems, were unsmokable. Made you want to spit. Really acrid skunk, in a bad way.
