I'll check that out.

I got myself a 600W Hortilux Super HPS bulb yesterday because I had a bulb fail in the veg room the other day and then had a ballast go out on Sunday night/Monday morning in a flower tent. I am seeing about getting the ballast covered under warranty but since I needed something now I bught a new magnetic 600W Hydrofarm, ballast and a Hortilux bulb.
I haven't noticed much gain in my grow with the 1000W light so I'll be going with all 600s to have more versatility. I'll be vegging with a 600w Growbright MH conversion bulb and flowering with 600W HPS lights. I had a 1000W on ebay but took it down so I can use it to veg with for a few days until the MH bulb shows up. Then the 1000W will be back up on ebay and the other 1000W will be going on ebay as soon as the scrog is harvested. I'll be running 3 or 4 600W hydro flower setups in the 10x12 area and will use the tents for veg once I can get things rearranged in there. I basically need to harvest what's in the tents before I cn move the veg stuff over but will be starting a new 600W flower setup every 2 weeks or so once the scrog is empty. There will be a 600W MH in the 40" tent to veg for a couple weeks before flower and a 4' t8 fixture in the 4x4 tent along with some CFLs for seedlings, clones and maybe a couple moms.

hey dez youre a busy man i did good things with a 600 the lumen per watt ratio is highest with a 600 i still would like to run 2 600s over a 3x6 tub but as far as having a single light in a room like mine i like the 1000w that being said im keeping my 600 as well:-P

At the moment I have 3 working 600W ballasts and one busted ass digital along with the two 1000w ballasts. I'll be picking up another one or two 600s when I sell the 1000s with the hopes of four total 600W flower setups and one 600W veg setup. Not sure if I'll get four but that's what I''m shooting for anyway. They'll all be open and side by side so they will be sharing light but the lights will be at different heights.

Thought about running three 600s on the light rail and setting each hydro system at a different height. Then I could get four by using three lights over a 4x12 space. The drawback is that I'd have to move the plants from one system to the other every two weeks. I'm not sure how good an idea that is so I'll most likely either do three systems at approx 4x4 with three lights or get a fourth light to do four and run them at approx 3x4 each.

r u running all those lights on one breaker? is anything else on the breaker? it seems like a lot
Lol, no. I set two new breakers in the panel and run the grow from them on all new wiring, GFIs and receptacles. Did the same at my house but my house is actually a bit more than what's needed.
There's two 2 pole 20 amp breakers at my place (80a total) and two single pole 20s at the other place (40a total). 40 amps is more than enough for what I run and I'll be using less power in about a month by ditching the 1000s and going with all 600s.

hey DEZ - do you notice a different between the cheap bulbs and the hortilux?? I just wonder - is it really worth it?

I have yet to be able to test that but Herk was saying Ol' Country has one of each running on his scrog and the Hortilux side is growing better in some way. I don't remember exactly what he said but I think it's a page or two back in my thread here.

The local hydro sjop only carries the so called 'top of the line' bulbs so the cheapest one he had carried something like a $100 tag. He has $125 stickered on the Hortilux Super HPS but doesn't typically charge what's on the price tags. He gave it to me for about $100 I think. It's hard to know exactly because I bought a few different things at the same time (4 bags of FFOF, a magnetic Hydrofarm ballast, 25 pack of 3gal grow bags and the bulb) and paid cash to get a better deal so he just adds it all up and then takes a percentage off. I have no idea what that percentage is but I know the stuff I bought added up to around $350 and he charged me $300 out the door.

man hortilux dont even have a uk supplier :( sucks big hairy ones.
You can't buy one from a US retailer and have them ship it to you? Like Ebay or something? If not, you should should maybe hit up some 600 brethren ;-) to see about having one sent to you if you want one.

Yeah you'd end up paying more for sure unless someone was able to come up on a killer deal on some. Every once in a while there'll be a deal on Ebay for 4-6 bulbs and it will be pretty good. When I'm ready to replace my other ones I'll start looking for a deal like that and I find one I'll let you know. It shouldn't cost more than $12-15 to send one over I think. Maybe I'm way off on that but you never know.

These will be the first ones I change out. I started with CFL and have moved up from there so haven't any bulbs for more than a few months. I now have a Sunmaster regular HPS and a Hortilux Super HPS. I'll be picking up one more 600 hopefully and I want to have four of the same bulb running so I still need 3 Horti's. I'll be selling both of the 1000s soon and buying one 600 and the three Hortilux bulbs.
