Dehumidifier question please help

Your deheuy IS going to suck power like an ac or a 600w ballast. My old 71 pint used 7.5amps. Run your ac, have proper air movement and no need for a deheuy. I don't use one any longer, as I figured out how to run co2 in a sorta sealed, but non sealed room with ac, no deheuy and no temp or rh issues, and only using a 20# tank every 12 days. Cost is 160/month for gas to yeild 9 more oz at harvest.

If your tent is in a closet, then you've got issues. If your tent is in a room, you have no problems. You're venting the tent anyway. You don't have to put the dehumidifier in the tent. You can put it in the room your venting into. That's where the air going into your tent is coming from. You lower it, and you lower the humidity inside the tent. Just put a good automatic dehumidifier on the other side of the room and set it accordingly. For instance, if inside the tent it's 60%, then set the dehumidifier for 40 to 45% and that should lower the inside the tent humidity down to 50% within a week and keep it there permanently.

My tent is already at 75 degrees if I run an AC to dehumidify the tent I would be dropping the temperature lower than what is recommended. I would solve the humidity problem but I would create a temperature problem right? Sorry I'm new to growing just very confused here

I get what you're saying but I have a pretty big living room and that's where my tent is so that would mean I need to buy a pretty big humidifier enough so that I could handle my whole living room?

I've got one in my basement that keeps the humidity in the entire basement anywhere I want. It's fully automatic and I have it plumbed into the stubs for the bathroom if I ever finish the basement completely. If it can keep a 1000 square foot basement at 50%, it'll take care of your living room with ease. I got mine on sale for around 180 bucks. I think normally it's 200.

Like above, just run Auto pump deheuy set at say 60% in the basement. It's going to raise the temp in your basement as well.as your grow. And 75 isn't that cold depending on what week in flower your at. I run 75 after week 5, then up at 70 week 9 lights on and 65 lights off.

No, it's not. Not even close. It has ZERO impact at all. The air coming out of it is, at best, warm. It's not "hot". There is no way it can overcome 80,000 cubic feet of 75 degree air all by it's onesies. Not even REMOTELY possible.

Where you put your tent is equally important as the tent itself. Some rooms or basements have naturally high humidity...some dont. Tents are a bitch in all reality. A bitch to cool....a bitch to dehumidify. Its quite inefficient but alot of times its best to cool and dehumidify the room the tent is in and use the passive intake flaps in conjunction with a nice 6 or 8 inch vent fan in the tent with the doors all zipped up. But in regards to your question...yes. Duhueys put out dry warm air....about 8 to 12 degrees over ambient depending on size of the dehuey...size of room and natural rh%(especially the cheap inefficient h depot dehueys). You will prolly need ac alongside the unit to combat warm air temps at lights off...when plants transpire. Its a catch 22 basically. And like vented rooms... tents (they are a bitch) are largely at the mercy of outside seasons and day to day climates. Like how do you vent/cool/dehumidify the lights/growroom when your bringing in summer air thats 90 degrees with 70% rh????? Or in the winter when the air your bringing in is 15 degrees and 20 % rh????? Wet condensate dripping off your duct work anyone????? Lol. As you can see...been there...done that. Where you put your traditional vented room or tent on this planet and what the seasons are outside largely determines the out come of your harvest. Your losing control. They are a bitch to keep in the temp/relative humidity sweet spot...and injecting co2 in them correctly...where plants use it to see real gains...good luck is all i can tell you. Ive banged my head for years with tents...big ones amd small ones. Modified all sorts of goofy growers ways with cheap air conditioners and dehueys meant for grandmas wet basement. Ducted tents with all sorts of madness. I was a snake eating its tail. To do it rite is expensive my bro. Buying the initially outrageously priced commercial dehuey....mini split...building a proper room...sealing it up...injecting co2 where plants actually use it and you see real gains in yield....wow. I have never looked back. But its expensive and alot of work to build and maintain a "correct" grow room. Did i mention...tents are a bitch?

  1. How far along are you in the grow?
  2. How many plants are in the tent?
  3. If your Tent is in the middle of your living room then you dont need a Ac or dehumidifier lol because you already have one being the Ac from the house and thats whats being sucked or pushed in your tent if its sitting right in the middle of the living room Right? And if your temps are already perfect at 75°f and humidity@ around 51 then it sounds like to me that you might have to many plants in the tent if thats the case just Remove some of the Big Fan leaves on all your plants that will Drop your humidity from 51 to about 43-44 without the dehumidifier. A little pruning will go a long way and save you $$$$$

Is it okay to prune in the second week of flowering? somebody told me to wait 18 - 20 days till after the stretch

Lol i knew it Yeah just Remove All your Big Fan leaves and the Humidity will drop Big time and quick. As for waiting 3rd week of flower is ideal But im thinking you should be okay

Next time prun a week or 2 before flower let them recover then flower then take all the big fan leaves again week 3 of flower if you have that many plants

Okay so I just got my dehumidifier and I put it in my tent and realized that after two hours the humidity didn't change at all. Then I realized my exhaust fan is probably exhausting all of the dehumidifier air out plus it's pulling in more of that humidity filled air. What's the solution to this? Would it be a humidistat? How does this work? the exhaust fan and the dehumidifier are constantly kicking on and off throughout the day. And when the exhaust fan kicks off does that mean the smell is going to leak out of my tent and my neighbors could smell the weed smell?

Bro you leave the exhaust fan on at all times that never comes off ever and yes your neighbor's will smell it thats why you leave it on plus you want that air circulation 24/7 especially during flower lol the dehumidifier sucks the water out of the air it dosent pull in air only moisture

Ok but how is the dehumidifier supposed to work if the exhaust fan is sucking out all of the dry air that the dehumidifier is spitting out. I tested it out and turned my exhaust fan off and then the dehumidifier started working but when I turned the exhaust fan back on the humidity Rises because the dried air is now being sucked out of the tent and being replaced with moist air from the intake. Im confused
