Personally I don’t “schwazz” which is what you’re referring to.
defoliation Around here is a hot topic and quickly ends up getting threads closed if they get out of hand.
I’m not much of a defoliator but I do selectively trim and prune my plants either to thin them out or to train them in a specific way such as topping etc.
what you’re referring to above is the technique known as schwazzing.
I have never performed this but the idea is that you remove every large leaf (with its own petiole) on day 1 of 12/12.
then repeat at day 21 of 12/12.

There are those here that prefer leaves on Plants so that photosynthesis takes place.
after all photosynthesis is what powers a plants ability to grow.
It can get quite heated quite quickly in threads such as this.
So be warned. lol.
this is what I will show you.
this is my 2 plants at approx day 3 of 12/12. 11th March. I have selectively trimmed and pruned the plant and trained it into the scrog. Any growth below the screen has been removed.

this is the same plants yesterday.

So there is definitely a lot of growth that continues to happen “veg wise” after you hit the switch to 12/12.
I’m sure some schwazzers will be in soon and so will the leaves photosynthesise and power the plant.
you can see where my thought process lies although I will be thinning out the plants over the next few days to allow better airflow amongst the canopy and selectively remove bottom “larf”.
