600 HPS is going to be the driver...what is that 85,000 lumens?...compared to a T-5 that is what...30,000ish with light that doesn't penetrate very well? And you're putting the T-5's "above"?

I use 2 X 2 T-5's to start...keeping seedlings close to the light. After about 3 weeks, I never thought of it as something I needed...
Doesn't seem penetrating enough compared to HID lights...after 3 weeks, they get big and need more light than T-5's supply...

You do have a horticultural HPS, right...they have some blue light in them...

Hope it works out for you...extra light helps, but T-5's seem lame with a 600 running...

I always wondered what would happen if you changed MH and HPS every watering cycle...every 3 - 4 days...and flowered them like that?
Although my HPS IS a horticulture bulb it as very little blue spectrum. The lights currently are centered across a row. I rotate every water so all will spend time in each. Have you ever checked out @RM3 s grows?

I switch out bulbs every other grow and you might get by with 3..but by grow 5? the light output and spectrum will be greatly diminished, affecting yield...it's great to be frugal...but at what price???
Only grow for myself and my wife who uses it medically. I continue to get nice results, but I think I will take your advice and get a new MH next grow. I think I hit the 10000 hours.8-)

OK, I'm impressed...maybe I'll put those T-5's back in there next watering cycle...just sitting in the box anyway. Just never thought it would add much, one way to find out...

I think my plants are too. May be imagined, but it looked like everything was reaching for the blue this morning. :). Can I ask what bulbs you are running and when??
I run a 50/50 mix of 3000k and 6500k bulbs all the way through. My first run, I ran all 6500 and they loved it. A lot of frost.

I'm fixing to buy some hortilux power veg bulbs to replace the regular 6500k. Or I will when I got the extra 25 bucks a bulb.

My inline fan and filter is above the light. When I close the doors to the cab the foam boards create a seal and draw the air and heat through the light. I am also in a basement with the heat vent closed off. It helps a lot.
