Dabbing? Ceramic Nail broke my bong!

I bought a 14/18 universal Ceramic nail and carb cap online for my beautiful 15 year old Mike Fro Handblown bong. AFter only heating it up 20 times it broke my downstem? Is this normal. I also have a small hammer bubbler I dab off that hasn't broke.

Are certain glass pieces for flower and others for concentrates?

Cheap glass is the best, the less you care the less they break. Its weird but so fucking true. Ive not broken a single piece since stopping caring about the cheap stuff i use.

That is true

I had a hand blown bowl that costed me 70 bucks and I was worried about braking it so bad that I was on my porch

And I shit you not I said to myself "damn I hope I dont drop this shit"

Then BAM it feel 10 feet down on cement and shattered

Then I got a cheap 15 dollar bowl

And ive had that shit for 3 years now

most people are getting drop down adapters now for this reason, the heat fluctuation on your joint leads to the glass getting weak, then bam, it cracks mid dab, or theres the possibility water got to the hot part and made it crack.

another nice thing about the quartz, you can hold one side and heat up the bowl and it won't transfer all that heat towards the other end.

truth, i had a sorta tall quartz nail that lasted me about 6 months, but the heat never progressed past the joint(though i stop heating after i see its it turn slightly red). most people roll with domeless which seem to always go all the way around the joint(at least for ceramic and titanium most of the time), if you have a titanium nail and no adapter your probably gonna experience the same thing the op did since the whole nail gets really hot and stays at that temp for a much longer period.

shit when i used to dab with titanium i could take a good .2 dab, wait like 30 seconds and still take a good sized dab off of it.
With the domeless nails i find the tiatnium cools down much quicker, but with the little doime and nail theyll stay glowing for time. Down at the club people mostly heat up nail and as it cools down prepare their dab.

exactly, i used to have a non-domeless, but even with them like you said you can wait a minute and still take a dab. it does sketch me out though after reading highly educateds opinion on good grade titanium, he says a lot of the companies out there arent really grade 2 TI and have certain trace metals that are extremely harmful, i started to see what he was talking about when i noticed a friends nail had a copper looking metallic film starting to form on the head, after a good sesh too. shit sketches me the fuck out lol

What do you prefer dabbing with?

quartz, havent tried ceramic yet but really wanna see what the hype is all about.
I was gonna get a quartz nail instead of the titanium but then just though it might break. I didnt think the ceramic nail would be as easy to determine when optimal temp has been reached. Im still curious tbh.

theyre pretty hard to break if you dont overheat it, a good torch helps too. and same here, makes me want an enail.
