@welight, Is this an issue with the sinks? Took the bar down to lengthen it and noticed this on 3 of them with the 4th just starting. Checked them last night and niw the discoloration is appearing on one of the sinks fins. DSCN3850.JPGDSCN3856.JPG

@welight should I be worried about the discoloration? These are cutter sinks. Not bashing, just not sure if this is an issue. They are also hotter than my other sinks.

Hi CoB_nUt
Sorry for delay, on leave currently. To be honest never seen that before. I have seen anodising on automotive heatsinks exposed to UV change colour but not coolers for indoor lighting, should have no impact on thermal performance but of course does not look pretty, interesting how its a perfect strip of discolour, can I assume the black is where the mounting rail sits? if so that seems to point to exposure to something that is causing this. These are the 110mm made by Mechatronix, I will ask their tech team what may cause this and advise
Cheers

I had discoloration when I had a heatsink a few inches away from a metal halide. I thought it looked cool to be honest. My lights are running fine still so it shouldn't affect cooling.

mark, thank you for the reply. Apologies for the interruption in your vacay. Yes the black is where the alum angle sits. Good, I was only concerned about the thermal performance. Aesthetics aren't my concern. Appreciate the feed back.
sulfer burner maybe ? or uv lamps,or even a ozone generator ?
Nah, no fancy smancy extras lol... simple guy simple grows. Thank you sixstring.

Thanks.I did have another fixture with some red/blue monos as well as a few 10w cree xmls a few inches above it. There was cast of light onto the cob bar,but the cobs are facing down and the light was hitting the driver and the fins on the sinks. thanks goofy.

I appreciate the responses and feedback. Wasn't going to fire it back up until I knew the cobs were
not at risk. Should've done it and fried 'em, that way I have an exscuse to build a new rig with the newer chips. Now that I am addicted to building them.

Yes the HLG-185H-C1400B is max 143V output so will just cover the MAU5-IV-NPS, the kit comes with Angelina reflectors or do you actually want glass optics?

@welight, any answer back from the manufacturer?
They cant be totally sure but advise it is something in your environment that is affecting the anodising in combination with the heat, they advise it will not impact on thermal properties but it does not look pristine obviously
