Cool first try at DIY.
i think the beauty of the cree globes are the simplicity though. That and the warranty. I think you might want to reconsider just sticking with the globes as is. Just add in a few more to make up for the loss of light from the bulb. Just optimize the spread as much as possible and have a highly reflective space. Would be much safer and easier.
Or get one of these to hang over the light...i use them...just in case. Better to lose a crop to dry chemical then burn something down
