Cost of adding and running co2?

Hey all,

I've been thinking of trying Co2 and must have missed any threads with what I'm looking for.

Room is 7x7x7 so 343cf.

In the room, I'm running 480 "wall watts" worth of Bridgelux strips, dehumidifer and fan. Room is 90% sealed. Temps stay around 80-85F right now.

What is an average cost for all the equipment, mid level probably. Don't want something cheap that I'll have to worry about breaking, but don't want to spend top line money either.

How much are co2 refills, and how fast are you going through the tanks?

Do you run the Co2 during lights on only? Currently running autos, but next run is photo.

Thanks.

Indeed, only when the lights are on. You will notice if you have a CO2 controller that reads the PPM that your plants will put out CO2 during lights out causing the levels to be higher than ambient when the lights come on.

Definitely get a controller with fuzzy logic if you are running a CO2 tank.

I much prefer a CO2 generator for room sized grows, especially if you have natural gas or propane plumbed into your home. Carrying the heavy tanks sucks ass and I have better things to do than refill CO2 tanks lol.

I do have natural gas in house and an unused pipe by the dryer as that's electric. It's probably 30' from the middle of the grow room.

Any suggestion for better (safer) budget friendly brands for the generator? Still need a fuzzy logic controller, or is the controller built into the unit?

This route would be a lot less hassle and probably lower cost in the long run, plus like you mentioned a lot less hassle.

For a generator we don't need fuzzy logic, just a normal co2 controller will work, avoid the ones that are just a repeat cycle timer (cheap ones) you want an actual CO2 PPM sensor.

Titan makes great generators and controllers. Size them by the cubic footage of your room. Typical installation the CO2 generator might run like 5 minutes to bring the PPM up to say 1200, then wait like 30 minutes and you are down to say 1000 and it bumps back up with a quick burn. So it shouldn't have to run much.

The generator will come with a hose and regulator, you put the regulator on your gas line and then run the hose to the generator. Always bubble test for gas leaks with soapy water.

Make sure the CO2 PPM sensor is not right by the co2 generator. You can put the generator anywhere in the room that it's out of the way, you should have enough airflow to keep things moving for other reasons.

Thanks for the info. I'll look it them instead of the tanks.

Do the generators create any noticeable amount of heat? Heat would be beneficial during fall through spring, but not wanted in the summer months since I currently don't need a/c in the summer in there.
