Constant temp swings from dehumidifier

I live in Thailand and humidity is insane. So using a dehumidifier even in veg if want to reduce humidity to 60-70% only.

The dehumidifier switches off as the RH comes within range and otherwise is on.

This causes frequent 3-4c (22-26c) swings in my room every 10-15 mins The plants dont seem to mind much and this must be much better than having crazy RH instead?
 
Does it have a constant setting? My climate’s really humid in the summer time so I just run a 70pint(~35L) per day dehumidifier on constant with the hose. Between watering the plants everyday and having over 50 gallons of soil it never dropped below 50rh
 
That seems like a huge swing to be caused by an (appropriately sized) dehumidifier. How big of a room is the dehumidifier in? If it's cycling on and off every 10-15 mins my guess is it's too big for the space...

No I have not. Sounds like a specialized piece of hardware.

How high temps are ok if im dealing with a 4c swing? I plan to nuke the temps as much as possible once the stretch is complete.

Most look quite happy.

It is a 30L per day model and room is about 5-7m2. Space is small but i wanted to really get humidity down under 50% in flowering so always go bigger on dehumidifier. As poster said above, its hard to get even get under 50% prob at full power althought not tried yet. Previous model just as powerful and did the same thing.

It does have a constant feature but once it hits that RH (55% set) then my room will be 60-65% RH. Im in veg now, later in flower will go full power and set at 30% and see how low she can go.

Once i can get my own place sorted, maybe next year, then i want to build a special grow room with full climate control.

Do you have a bigger room that the grow space is inside of? Maybe putting the dehumidifier in that space would smooth things out. Totally uninformed here, but I'd be concerned about that thing cycling on and off 100+ times a day.

Concerned from a safety POV or temp fluctuation POV?

Its an open tent in a room about 3x bigger than the 1.5m2 tent.

I'd be concerned about wear and tear on the dehumidifier itself, with the compressor kicking on and off that frequently. Like I said though, totally uninformed, I could definitely be wrong about that.

Either way, I think having it outside the tent, affecting a bigger area, would help smooth out the fluctuations...
 
I run mine constant and just have humidifier on inkbird switching on and off to maintain parameters,

doing this will also help keep the temp stable, you might not realise it but 4’c swing coupled with a humidity swing could be slowing ur plants right down, I’m not saying it is, but it’s usually better to keep it stable from a stress point of view, than have temp and humidity swinging in opposite directions which I assume is the case
 
Thank you. im going to experiment with continuous mode. I assumed that might be too dry and no control. Lets try and find out.

@Blue brother will this inkbird thing work with any type of dehumidifer and aircon? Which exact Inkbird model would you recommend for me pls? Ive never looked much into climate control but am very keen although assumed id need specialized dehumidi, aircon etc to link it all up.

My aircon is a wall model, so direct to the mains and no typical plug. Dehumi has a standard wall plug.

If possible try to seal or insulate your room better so the rH remains more stable.

I wish I could move to thailand and start a canna business. I'd love to expat to SE Asia some day.

Thanks this is a very good idea. Any specific material you recommend to insulate the room better? haha, yes good time to be here.

My room is quite sealed, no fresh intake or outake to be honest. maybe through cracks of the door, they are mostly sealed as well. Perhaps some type of insulation in the room around the walls and windows may help a bit though.

Mine is the exact same, wont drop below 50% it looks like on continious mode. The temp is much more stable and maybe only 2c swings instead of 4c but need more time/data to investigate this. Guess 50-55% RH is fine for veg/flower. Tempted to add a 2nd one and try get to 40%.

It has to be a dehumidifier or humidifier that switches on automatically when it’s powered up, like one where when you plug it in it just starts, you don’t need to press a button.

Assuming you’re extracting air out of your room I wouldn’t even bother plugging the dehumidifier into the inkbird, as extraction will suck out the moisture in the air from the point the humidifier switches off. Hope this helps

I have no extraction out of the room. Its hard enough keeping RH at 50%, let alone extracting that dehumidified air out always. So no i prob wouldnt plug it in, but would help if it can adjust the aircon as necessary.

I dont think my aircon will plug into that either, its a wall unit and direct mains power connection i assume. No plug.

No you’re correct air con wouldn’t plug into that, do you rely on aircon for the temperature? If so a simple air con thermostat would suffice, and humidity and temperature can be controlled independently?
