Cold climate growing. Any tips for growing outside in Alaska?

I live in Alaska and have quite a bit of room to grow( the whole forest!) Can anyone give out tips for cold short seasons? I'm planning to grow several indica strains and breeding with a pure auto flowering, and ruderalis indica.

COLD FRAMES. Helps early season if you can't veg indoors and late season to give longer finishers time to do their thing.

I got the seed from old school breeders association mixed pack for 25 bucks. They said GDP was the most prevalent strain in there. I hope it would be the real deal GDP. Probly some cross of it or f2s though.

That's a badass baby!

I've run GDP in my setup, I was not impressed. I've found that environment makes a big difference so don't be discouraged by my experience.

What was your review of GDP?
Pros cons

Took forever to grow, cuz I grow them 6' tall. It didn't smell super awesome- not a big deal to me, but it's an indicator. It was a heavy indica, but I didn't really get the heavy high from it. Didn't yield well. I just was not impressed all the way around- but then, I live in Colorado and I do realize I'm drowning in premium cuts here compared to most other places.

On another thread there was a dude talking about germination techniques. He mentioned that sometimes seeds that he had tossed out the door in autumn germed and broke through the snow in spring!
