I use botanicares CNS17, in conjunction with dyna gro silicon protek, and cal/mg +.

But. I'm trying something new, instead of trying Pure Blend Pro, I bought 2 qt's each of Pure Blend Original grow and bloom. Basically I'm making my own synthetic/organic blend.

my hydro guy said hes having better results mixing his own, then buying the Pure Blend Pro (which in essence is nothing more then the CNS17 line and the Pure Blend Orignal mixed)



That BigBudda's Chiesel. I have two at the moment, that one pictured above I took down a little over a week early.

There is another one still rockn out at the moment, I'll let her run another 10 days...then she turns purple.

I'm averaging just shy of 4oz per 1gal container.

Those pictures are reassuring, I am growing some plants in 5 liter air pots roughly 1.25 gallons and I was worried I would need a bigger pot. You got them that big in a 1 gallon?

yes for sure...thats all I'm adding. I have Snow Storm Ultra....but havnt used it yet.

Those plants where vegged 2 weeks in a solo cup, then 2 1/2 weeks in a 1 gal bag before I flipped to 12/12. Most the time I only use around 3/4gal of coco.

the only other "secret" is adding 1/2" of hydraton to the bottom for super drainage.

Less is more, and I very rarely stress over my plants....in fact I just feed them and forget about them.


I'd also like to add.....That is WITHOUT the addition of Co2. I do not run Co2.

But....I just got a tank, regulator and a Sentinel Chhc-4 controller...so hoping for 5zips per 1 gal ;)

heres two shots of the same plant before she gets all heavy and looks like a sad mop.

I hear you on the hydroton for drainage I know coir retains water like a sponge so I went with coco chips pretty much the croutons it acts more like hydroton, retains more water than hydroton and is still coco.

I dont see a double serrated leaf at all (unless I just cant see it) so you must have a different pheno then I do.

But ya pretty much thats what she looks like, I usually top once and train the branches, the one posted above was never trained tho.

I experiment with flushing, I tone down the nutes the last 2 weeks, then 1 (4 days...2 drenches) week of plain RO water.

I let her go 10 weeks....11 is optimum, but I hate waiting.

it may retain water...but I have to feed every other day, so it seems to dry out quick. My main reason for the hydraton is that I like 20-30% run off...and it helps me achieve it faster...also it keeps the loose coir from coming out of the bottom.

I've never tried chips, but when I look into a recirculating system I would def go with chips.

wasup fellas, ? for ya, at what point should i stop feeding cal mag? i have at week 6 of flower and have cut the micro now for about 10 days. i just switched to koolbloom dry, i think now would be the time to cut the cal mag... or no? should i ride to the flush feeding it?

well thats kinda up in the air. As certain people do different things, like I believe beavr pre charges his, so he doesn't have to feed cal/mg through out the grow. I dont pre charge my coco, and feed as necessary.

I find my strains love cal/mg at the beginning and around week 6-8. So in other words I don't feed cal/mg my entire grow (as too much can cause some problems).


from what I gather calcium in plants is almost the same nature as humans....we need it early in life and late in life.


Beaver idea of pre charging (and correct me if I'm wrong beaver if it isnt you who does this) is really good, as it saves the hassle of having to feed over long periods.

Calcium binds well in coco, so the old "a little goes a long way" is a pretty accurate statement when it comes to coco and calcium.



edit: and I should also add, I re use my coco, it seems I need to add less and less cal/mg (but still need to supplement MG) the more I re use my coco.

Yeah thats why I pre charge its just more convenient if you are adding it to your res its fine. I just dont like to add it because sometimes if you wait to long you will get a deficiency, I wanted to have lush green throughout the grow but now I have deficiencies because I didnt feed my plants for over 24 hours trying to fight off fungus gnats. Either way is right, just one less thing I have measure or add to my res.

Anybody have any experience with coco chips in smart pots on a flood and drain under 600's? I'm curious about peoples' experiences with pH, ppm, watering times and TEMPS, etc. Yeah, if you have experience in similar grows, would love to benefit from your growing pains. And pleasures too.

In the res:
Azos (veg) + Mykos (throughout)
Soul Synthetics (entire line except their N blast booster whatever)
Hygrozyme
DutchMaster Silica
Maybe Banana Manna - - - have had best results I've ever gotten flavor and aroma wise with that stuff but it's so expensive!

Neem during veg but no real foliar spraying regimen or anything

Chiller
Res aerated with 8" discs
Loofah for microbiology to live on
