Hey peps.....has anyone ever used California Substrates Coco coir? Your evidently not suppose to worry about Cal-Mag with this Coco there's no coco dust it's double washed buffered and everything. I'm gunna use 2 gal pots with a couple autos that are smaller in stature. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

No, but I've used a lot of brands from no-name bricks to canna. If your using RO than cal mag is an issue, regardless of how fortified the coco says it is, if your using tap than it doesn't matter. I would still have some cal/mag on hand if your doing RO, because whatever is fortified in the coco is going to be gone in 2-3 feedings.

Ok cool thanks for the info man. And does coco keep the roots aerated good enough? They roots will be able to thrive good in coco?

My GF and I grow indoors with a mix of 60% FF Ocean Forest, 40% Coco Coir, and a healthy amount of Pearlite, and get excellent results!

Once my autoflowers pop up from the dirt how long should I just give them water until I start feeding growing in coco coir

I was gunna use 2 2gal pots that I already had from the grow store you know them cheap black plastic pots for 1.25.....lol. I'm just nervous I've never used coco before and I've watch some videos of a guy that was growing coco in 1gal pots and watering the shit 1-2 times a day.....fuck all that noise ya know....my tap water comes out at 375 ppm so I buy water and it's cheap but I'm constantly buying it people probably are like what the fucks this dude doin with all this water.......you think one of those Brita filters on your sink tap would work good enough to be able to at least use the water

Coco is the easiest medium to grow in unless your going to grow 100% hydro. It is totally different to soil and should be treated as such.
Every time you water your plants in coco you give the roots 30% oxygen which is coco main strength. Plants love growing in it. You will always need calmag when growing in coco. I'm growing 4 auto in coco at the moment. I feed everyday with nutes and calmag and I use a root enhancer, shogun to be exact. Make sure that the nutes you are using are designed specifically for coco. I use canna coco plus and feed them canna coco a and b. Of course you have lots of other things to get right like temps of grow room air flow etc, but I swear buy canna products each to their own I know, but give it a crack. All the best with your grow

Hey Johnny...i'm running 4 autos now in coco and have done one before. I use a modified head formula (only use coco) and I start feeding when the 2nd set of leaves are about half an inch. Use the same formula all throughout. No problems. When I started people said to wait on the nutes. I did. It fucked everything up. Since I do it this way now, things are better

I emailed the California Substrates Coco people and they are saying that their Coco I'd fortified with calmag and I don't need to use calmag through out the whole grow.....but I should get some calmag anyway?

Mate definitely 100% plants use up the calmag quickly mate. You will need to use it on every feed

I used an e&f tub with a reservoir under it I used gh3 part flora series nutes which were changed out 7-10 days I topped off the res. & adjusted the ph to 5.8 every few days using lemon juice to lower the ph. What the peeps say about the cal- mag is true i prefer 60% coco 40% perlite if you run a reservoir & a recirculating feeding schedule like I did a decent ph meter is a must I would think at some point even if your coco has cal mag in it from the start the plant especially in a 2 gal. Pot is gonna use it up at some point leaving you with a cal.& or mag defiency you'll have to diagnose & correct I would consider using normal coco in the first place Johnny go to the bottom of my post & click on to the skywalker round 2 link in my signature that grow was done in 2 gal smart pots & coco

Yeah bro I wanted to check your skyjacker out but I see nothing at the bottom of the post to :lick on.......you think I should just give then a lower dose of calmag every other watering? Keeping in mind I'll be watering once a day. Check out that California Substrates Coco online and read abut it and tell me what you think if you had time. They recomend not using perlite or any substrates in their coco. I don't know I was always curious about coco and it was 25 a 50 liter bag 13.2 gallons my chick at the grow shop gave it to me for 20 which means she made 15.....lol but it's double washed all the dust has been removed it has a very low EC.....I have a couple Auto Kush germinating so I'm gunna run Lucas Formula quater strength then take it to half and I was gunna water a quart to two everyday.....this shit clams to have a 32-33% air fill porosity.....I don't know something new as shit to me....I'm an old school dirt farmer......and still tying to figure out a good nute schedule for autos...this is only my 3rd run with them so I'd figure I'd try the Lucas Formula worked up to half strength and see what the fuck happens

Not sure in gallons mate not in the USA. But is use 1ml of calmag per 1 litre of water and it works well. Make sure you keep your PH in check also. 5.7 is perfect for coco

I wouldn't add anything to the coco either. Use 100% coco is really good stuff
