Being new to T5 I was going to use 6500K bulbs for veg and 3000K for flower. I keep reading and reading about all these ultra high $ bulbs. How much better are they than regular? For what these trick bulbs cost, I may as well go HPS. Are they really that good? Thanx

They are actually a really good deal there. If you buy in quantity you save a little extra. Shipping isn't that bad, I think it runs about $18. The site is a little confusing, but it's $18 total for shipping, there isn't another hidden charge. The place is legit, I've ordered a few times from them. I believe my order came to $76 TOTAL for the 4 Red Suns. Seems a lot more that $4 savings compared to your $108 anyway.
The price is great, only problem is if you read my other posts my order was large enough that they dropped the shipping and handling at the other store. and thats why it's only $4 difference.
I called aquariumlighting.com yesterday and the red suns are out of stock but said he would check on having them drop shipped to me and email me a price.
The online order quoted $19.36 shipping.

I am running T5 lighting from veg. 2 24w HO strings and a 4 bulb 96W aquarium light with 6500K grow bulbs. Everything is working out well. I would not try to flower with these but veg is great.

I'd definitely "try" to flower with T5s . They work, and when used correctly, will keep up with HPS numbers/yields. Oh, and don't forget about the quality final product you get with T5s. Just my $0.02.

No need to get fancy with the bulbs, guys. Throw some $10 flora suns in the fixture and go from there. If you like to tinker, that's another story. For those who want quality meds: Flora Sun/Coral Wave/Red Sun/660 and call it a day.

Hey everybody,
been a little absent the last few months because of moving states 'n sich, but now i'm ready to get down to it in y new digs...

so i've put the cart before the horse a bit by buying 4 zoomed flora suns before owning my t5 fixtures and now i've got some questions as my budget continues to dwindle:
I was all set on 2 4x4 quantum badboys but looking at fluorogrow's evergreen model with racehorse ballasts for 20 bucks cheaper per fixture...anyone have any experience with either (or, preferably, both) of these i'd love to hear your thoughts, like a pro/con--what you've noticed in your grow situation.

beyond that, im leaning to Lucius V and Psugaro's mentality on bulb lineups, i'm just having trouble nailing down (a) my veg. lineup, and (b) my bulb placement. LV says generic grow and blooms are fine (6500K and 27/3000K) but i'm curious if anyone has any notes comparing the agromax, spectralux, and quantum triphosphor (i.e. any "color temp." rated bulb that is listed, branded, or marketed as a horticultural bulb) and the standard bulbs that come with these fixtures (eg. topstar, tcp, ushio, ge, phillips)--am i conflating some groups here? in other words, is the divide between high-end and low end hort. bulbs rather than between hort specified and non-hort specified bulbs?

thanks for the input and i'll be posting a grow thread as soon as i pop some beans! they'll be super lemon haze, northernberry (psbc), and some headband seeds that came from a buddy's grow in which he accidentally stressed the already hermie prone strain resulting in extraordinarily seeded nugs

be easy!

Sweet!!!! Recently joined the site and I just became a member of the T5 club (2ft 4 bulb for a cab grow). It's coming with veg bulbs, so your info is very beneficial!

What is the best t5 fixture for the price? I want a 4ft that is no more than 2ft wide. Thanks
a lot of folks like the quantum badboy and for plantlightinghydroponics.com's price it should be on your short list; fluorogrow out of florida uses the same fullham racehorse ballast and offers a 5yr warranty (pretty good for an all american made product) as quantum hort and charges about 20 bones less. I'm in the same quandry as you, trying to choose a fixture and get going but ultimately its gonna come down to whichever one feels like the right choice. takes a lot of market research and lurking forums asking about experiences and searching for people who use different equipment--then you have to let your nuts drop, pull the trigger on one, and hope it all works out! pm me if you want to discuss this thing further--not sure if the good folks here are gonna want to continuously rehash these beaten-dead-horse topics,

As I have stated many times, if I knew then what I know now, I would get 2 4 bulb fixtures instead of one 8 bulb. The Quantum has an open back, only covered by easily removed reflectors, so I can squeeze a power cord or hangers in between for additional lighting on separate timer.

jstone,
this is good advice here...and, in my research i've found the main difference between badboys and fluorogrow evergreens is the heat dissipation on the badboy is far superior. comments are routinely made about directing a fan on the fluorogrow housing or even cut a hole and install a pc fan for direct cooling. i don't say this to influence you at all, but i'm ordering my badboys today:: this is only because the heat issue is of paramount importance to my particular growing situation.
hope it helps,
be easy,

thanks for the assistance PET, sorry you had to chime in on something so redundant and rehashed!

I updated my T5 stand it is now more stable plus I now got over five feet of growing height, I put pipe T's down the front and back to add my two F54 T5 HO 2 tube 4ft fixtures down each side, and eventually I'm going to pipe in the top on the sides so I can put my side lighting on ratchet ropes for easy light adjustment, maybe in the future I will try to veg with side lighting and flower with side lighting of all T5's to see what happens, I got my tent, hood, ballast, exhaust fan, window ac, timers, I'm using the T5's to veg then flower in my tent but I can't find a electrian that I can trust too keep his mouth shut, to come out to my house a wire me up a separate panel for my grow roomView attachment 2289135View attachment 2289136View attachment 2289137View attachment 2289139

be prepared to call them when you get your package--all 4 of the flora suns were smashed to bits when they arrived, but they were fine with just sending out another set, no charge::i hope they come in one piece this time :/
