Cloning question in terms of Time

Hey guys, I'm getting ready to clone a plant, this will be the first one that I have ever cloned. So here is my situation.

The mother plant is at my friends house which is about a 15-20 minute drive away. I don't want the clone to die in the time that it takes for it to get to my cloning machine (which I have also just finished building *bow*). So heres my question.

I want to know how I can transport a clone from my friends house, and get it inside my grand spankin' new cloning machine without it dying in the process. Can I use a water bottle and keep the stem inside? Use distilled water? Any answers or suggestions on how I should properly do this would be greatly appreciated. (because I wanna make one of these --> )

*I also want to start a Journal about the life and growth of my first plant, and having a plant will REALLY speed the process up haha*

I've had to do this before too, what I did was cut the clones off, then re-cut them under water at a 45* angle. this keeps the air from getting up the stalk. Then I put them in a closeable jar filled half way with PH balanced H20 and some B-1. close the lid and your golden. You can keep them like that for days.

wrap the stem/cut in a damp paper towel and then place the cutting in a big ziplock so it isn't damaged. Treat it nicely..recut/dip and you should be golden.

Cuts are sent like this through the mail all the time, surviving 4-5 days or more depending on how they were packaged/shipped. Rooted clones will last even longer.

I've also heard of folks keeping clones in stasis in the fridge for weeks upon end but i've never tried it/had to do it myself.
