Three weeks is a long time. I'd take more cutting and use rooting gel or powder and place it into some sort of medium. I've never not had a clone root this way

Some plants root easily. I've use bubble cloners etc. but I still use a 12 oz Dixie cup and use a clear Dixie for the top cover. Slightly cut the first inch or so off the drinking side of the clear cup. Poke holes in both the bottom and clear top. I use red for the bottom. Promix only moistened and the cover goes on. To much moisture and no roots will form. And I let it dry out or it will never make roots, it doesn't have to. Just like the kid in the basement. Anyway in a couple weeks roots will grow. Usually before. I use a rooting compound. I have used honey. I also use a warming mat if needed. I leave the clear tops on for a couple days. Then start keeping it off longer and longer to keep them searching for moisture.

Cloning with just a glass of water is slow and unreliable. Both times I did it I waited 3-4 weeks for the first root and both times it was a single strand of root growing 2-3 feet long. Hard to start a cloner with a single root, eh?

Good luck, BigSteve.

I have 100% success rate in the same timeframe using just Polyurethane foam, and ph'ed water.

To tell the truth I only tried twice with just a glass of water. I was just starting out with cloning and wasn't having any luck getting roots the usual way with Jiffy pellets and a dome. I eventually worked out a cloning technique that produces roots regularly after 8-12 days in the dome. After that I had no reason to sit around staring at a glass of water.

Good luck, BigSteve.

roots need darkness to grow. if you just have a cup a water and lights its not really gonna root. you need to seal it up from the light.
