clone lighting question

I live in California, and have been buying clones from Mmj stores for my grows. I have a 1000w in a raptor hood. When I get the Clones they are well rooted and about 4” tall. Should I be using the 1000 from the start or something Less powerful? If I should be using let's say t5's at what point should I switch to the 1000? Thanks...

depends what the clone has become accustomed too while it rooted.. if it has spent the last month under t5s then putting it straight under 1000w mh is a sure way to stress it possibly to death. harden it off by slowly introducing it to the more intense light bit by bit and it will be fine

Have that 1k badboy dimmed down for first week. And in that week give hour or two of some of that intensity. Like when I fish with live bait. Have them get used to it slowly, dont just throw them in there and get shocked, then they dont move and you dont catch shit lol.

you can use a 1000watt, but thats just a waste of electricity, unless youre growing a bunch of plants. either way, itll work fine for one plant, or for a field.

if i were you id buy a pack of 4-6 cfls and use them for veg.

i found these in costco for $8. not the best becuase they are cheap, but they havent died on me yet.

here goes more lumen. http://www.amazon.com/Watt-Energy-Smart-CFL-Replacement/dp/B000UYF80S/ref=pd_bxgy_hi_img_z 1750 each, thats great.

you ever think about selling one of the lights? then you get can T5s for veg, and you would have some extra cash

Thanks for the kind words guys. I just want to know what you Master growers do from clone, mine seem to stress in the beginning and I was wondering If it was because of the light....

dont soak the soil, just keep it moist. they dont get drinks like big plants do.

to germ seeds i use warm sprayer twice a day and they pop in 3 days directly in earth. i just push em in till theyre level with top of soil, sprinkle a bit on, push down a couple times and mist good to go

you should probably very lightly keep em moist..i would spray veg twice a day if no dome.

you can make good rooting hormone from a willow tree branch, and whats awesome is that its soluble in water so you just smashed it up in water, dip her in, more branch under the better, more rooting sites. its essentially like a vine.

I always set my clones to the side not under my 1000 for a week before putting them directly under the light

OH MY GOD. BMEAT STOP GIVING BAD ADVICE...

OP, just pick up some t5's for your clones higher lumens/watt than those cfl's bmeat is selling. The rest of your setup sounds great.

A regular florescent works well for my cloning.. 6500k spectrum. you can pick up a fixture and bulbs for under $50 at home depot..
