As we move into the green energy evolution, it will mostly involve engineering decisions made as public policy on many fronts and the public needs a lay understanding of the concepts before supporting one solution or another. Private companies and individuals make most of the calls, but the government and policy have a huge role to play in promoting use, setting standards and a host of other things involving utility scale operations and domestic use.

One way of dealing with renewables is to transport energy vast distances, super conductors could save gigawatts in this, but for now we have HVDC. An American east west HDVC interconnector(s) could provide peak evening solar power east of the Appalachians from solar power out west and connect places where the wind is blowing with those where it is not and with local grid scale storage might make up our future smart grid. There is an HVDC link going on in my region, with Labrador hydro being routed through Newfoundland across the 100-mile Cabot Strait to here in Cape Breton and on to the Maritime grid and perhaps to New England. Quebec is hard to deal with and was fucking Newfoundland over transporting Labrador hydro power to American markets like NY, buying low and selling high.

Emissions free cooling. Can we do it?

By 2050 there will be almost six BILLION air conditioning units in operation around the world. Current technology is extremely energy hungry and often uses refrigerant gases with very high global warming potential. We can't eliminate air conditioning, because millions of people would literally die. So what are we doing to try to solve a rapidly worsening problem?

Battery 4.0: The Solid State Battery Revolution

Solid state batteries are just around the corner with most major battery and car manufacturers pursuing this technology. What does the future of battery production look like?

Small cars will sell, especially solar powered ones, if they can recharge to the average daily commute range using solar, but even charging to half their daily range would cut energy costs by 50% and being able to charge on 120 volts with an internal charger would be another selling feature for many people, a small car that can handle the freeway and the daily commute from the burbs to the city. Such small EVs will sell not just in North America but globally, with the appropriate charging system module for the country or simply a switch (autodetect) and a universal connector like an IEC 130 PC connector.

I don't think reviving old front entry designs will work very well, a new approach and materials are required along with solar recharging because it is actually practical to a degree or will be with this class of light efficient EV. Doubling the power density of the battery in terms of mass and volume would make such vehicles much easier to design, so as batteries and PV technology improve, these kinds of solar vehicles can become larger and more conventional looking.

ocean level rise, temperature rise, weather patterns are all what natuer does and has been doing since the planet became a planet and humans became self-aware. SO,
If you think people can have any input, other than fucking things up...you never learned history. The planet does what it does and will continue.
Lost civilizations, lost history and everything that gets renewed is way beyond our paygrade.
climate change is a hoax, the severity of covid is a hoax, the current people in charge are a crew of evil money hungry elitists who care nothing about the average man and more about pushing their bullshit on helpless sheep.

You must be concerned about climate change, or you wouldn't be here. There is some truth to what you say about climate cycles and the information comes from experts, the same ones who are warning us now and there is a scientific consensus. The same consensus there is about covid and vaccines, but the same morons who are fed bullshit don't believe that either, or I suppose, in evolution, or the earth is a sphere and not flat... Or that Trump is not an idiot as well as a dangerous narcissistic sociopath and the worst president in American history. Or that J6 was a tourist visit and Trump never tried to strangle his SS driver because he wanted to lead the insurrection himself. He attacked law enforcement too on J6, just like his suckers and goons did at the capitol and for the same reason, insurrection against the constitution of the USA.

Still wondering what the plan is to secure the election for the democriminals. How bad are they going to make it for us this year?>
First, they are gonna try to get Trump in the GOP primaries, then convict him in court over J6, and if the republicans are stupid enough to nominate him from a cell, just before the general election they will have him disqualified under the 14th amendment and encourage morons to write him in on the ballot! A democratic landslide should follow as his suckers stay home in disgust and women flood the polls demanding their basic human rights on family planning. A few years down the road robocop will knock in their door demanding their gun and robodog will come out of the rubble of their house with the gun in its jaw pincers, complete with their cold dead hand still holding it. Biden won't just limit you to 2 beers a week, he will send in thugs to kick down yer door and take yer beer!

so that's where you might go, the gulf of new england, that also puts New Brunswick and Nova Scotia in it's cross hairs too....hmmm...still a little early to tell though

@DIY-HP-LED think you mentioned NB, u might wanna take a look......and keep an eye on it...
Hopefully it unravels before the east coast but looks like it’s headed towards there :(. Seems it tracking west of Bermuda which is a good thing. Kids are back here end of September and hopefully nothing develops in that time frame :(.

Some of those tracks are gonna bullseye me, again! If it hits New England it should be ok here, but maybe heavy rain right up to @Budley Doright if it breaks up and rains out.

i don't see anything on the horizon right now, there are a couple of formations coming off of Africa, but i think by the time they form or do anything, your fam will be home safe and sound
