cleaning led

I used just a little soap and hot water to clean my lights...I used a soft cloth
For both led and digital.
Air cooled hoods I spray Windex on a cloth to clean the inside tube.
Carbon filters dust up a tube so need to keep those clean for the best light you can give plants.

I'm sure it's worked fine for you but if I were you I'd clean them with alcohol and get all of that soap residue off of them. High powered LEDs, and if I remember correctly, even HPS lamps aren't supposed to have any residue left on them, but perhaps I'm mistaken on the HPS, just what I remember from like 10 years ago. I know that high powered lights, that even the oils from your fingers can cause damage. Ie on projector light bulbs.

Edit: Also, you'll find that despite the smell, cleaning with say ISO91% is so easy and dries as fast as you clean so no waiting for a few hours for the suds to dry out.

No soap left on my gear
If I clean my lights means that room isn't going.
I clean my grows and no plants get into it for a week to 10 days.
I been growing for years im not a newbie by no means.

Gotcha, I've got a ventilation machine for when I solder that I use for cleaning with alcohol, but for my 2x4 grow light I'll probably move that outside in the spring to clean it. Plus I used thermal paste on mine and some as oozed out from under the lights so I need to clean all that away, going to be tedious as hell.

Whytewidow, how many watts per square foot do you have on your canopies?
I run in tents. 2x4 has 660+ watts of Samsung gen 3s and in a 32x32 I have 575w of H inFlux_L06 strips.

2x4 is roughly 82.5w sqft
32x32 is roughly 80.98w sqft.

I only use them for flower. I veg alot lower. And I dont always run them at max.

Yeah man I wasn't saying you were a noob. I just have a lot of experience working with electronics, I'm sure your experience with growing blows me out of the water. I just am curious to see how you're cleaning with soap and keeping it from having any residue left on the LEDs. I mean even just using plain water will leave residue, that's why you get water spots on your silverware.

Also regarding time I was just pointing out another advantage of not using soap/water.

Nice! I sent you a PM or whatever let's move this there. I'm using similar lights to you and wanted to ask you a few questions. I originally got my lights because of your setup.

Ever sniff the iso...?
Beautiful smell, I think I could get addicted to it...... ahhhhhh lol
I prefer the smell of gas. I don't know why, but I love that smell. Iso makes me think of 151 and my teenage years of doing shots until I vomit and it turns my stomach. I wish iso smelled a bit more like whiskey instead of vodka.

That's pretty hardcore jarvild. Don't get that shit in your eyes! I don't like working with shit I need to wear protection for if I can help it. My respirator makes me look like I'm cooking meth to my neighbors. What advantages have you seen over 91%?
Nothing really. I just have it around to clean my mason jars out with. Get's me a little QWISO after I'm done.

Oh I didn't realize you use that for extraction. Looks like I may need to get some after all. I need to find out how to extract CBD for some family in pain, especially my grandmother. The costs of CBD oil is too much for her, hoping my medical plant will make enough to justify another run.

I imagine the water in ISO is distilled?
BTW, I have cleaned electronics and LEDs with just distilled water.
Some people even clean circuit boards in a dishwasher!

As long as it's a cbd cultivar.

It is, and sure you can clean it with distilled water, absolutely, de-ionized would be a better choice. But it's not going to work as a solvent, which is what you need especially for resin from flux, or just from anything that burns up on the LEDs, finger oils, etc, water won't do shit. Also, soap will leave residue. Since ISO 91% is so damn cheap, why not? It works amazingly well, leaves no residue, dissolves next to everything that could be on the components, anything that could be causing a microcurrent short between pads, anything that could of burnt up on the LED, etc. It evaporates almost instantly, so no concern of having to wait for it to dry to use the light. All sorts of advantages, and it's everywhere for about the same price as a gallon of water. Just my opinion, I think the advantages outweigh water or soap so high that I am having a really hard time seeing why anyone wouldn't go that route. But to each their own! :)

I've a bottle of poteen I got for Christmas here, it's probably the nearest to 151 in these parts lol

In the anonymity of an internet forum, I will admit to sniffing Iso fumes.
I also tried "huffing" Testors brand model glue, exactly one time as a teenager.
I glued my eye shut, and never tried it again.
I also like the smell of gasoline.
I rarely clean diodes, but when I do, its with 91% ISO, and I like the smell.

Yes it is, I just don't know the extraction process yet. It's an actual Medical strain. Supposed to have no THC, but we'll see.
For the cleanest meds I would do an bubble bag extraction first then go from there to get the refinement you want.
