Changing out bulbs during perpetual flower

How do you guys change out bulbs when running a perpetual harvest. I'm also going to change make, model and lumens. Different bulb all together. What's your take on this. How, when and so on. Thanks in advance, for your advise.

Yea, I get that. Seems like I've aquired hermies doing this in the past. Not 100 percent sure this is what caused it. I'll just try again I guess

Um yeah, this really does seem like a trick question... when they burn out? in the dark? with a head lamp?

I am pretty dubious that your lights are what caused the hermies. I've gone from CFL to outdoor to LED all in one grow... no problems. The lumens, intensity, type, temperature (both in color and heat), distance... so yeah, every factor changed... pretty wildly too. No problems.

You do need to account for the changes though... I wouldn't switch out my 150w LED light right now for a 150w HPS without making a lot of adjustments to my set up... the light needs to be further and I need to account for the extra heat. Same even if I was just switching between two HPS with different watt draw/lumen output.

Just swap it out. I don't think you can hermie your bud by just installing a fresh bulb, unless your using it really clo. Plants outside always get a big swing in light intensity from cloudy days, season changes ect

Ok, I was just asking. Triing to figure out what caused my hermies
I changed bulbs last spring, and w as s hit with a massive heat wave, and aquire some new strains all around the same time. So, I'll replace the bulb 1000 watters. Thanks. Oh, and don't buy cheap bulbs either. You do get what you pay for.

Bulbs... I feel you always get less than what's promised. It's one reason I haven't tried High Powered Bulbs... from purchase cost to running cost to how often you need to replace them... seems like too much cost for me... upfront cost anyway. But I work small... I don't know if 150w HPS bulb would be better than the 150 LED I use right now, given my space, and since I am not overly concerned with the biggest possible yields... the math works out in my favor in terms of savings/returns so I'm not concerned... my bulbs are cheaper, last longer, and still produce way more than I spent on or running them (in terms of weed cost if I bought it).

As to cheap bulbs vs not in the same kind... well, IDK... technically bulbs are cheap, in terms of manufacturing cost. You pay a lot for the company name and whatever assurances they provide (life hours etc). When choosing my light budget was of serious concern, so I bought a "cheap" LED light (300w, 150 veg/150bloom or full 300 mixed) and it's been doing great so far. We'll see how it holds up. I think it's important to shop around. There are inexpensive options out there that are not cheap (to me cheap means not only low cost, but low quality... while inexpensive is just low cost).

I can see a big difference from one bulb to the next. So, I won't be changing brands after the next switch out.

Ok, but how do you mean? Your perception of the light? Their effects? I'm not saying you're wrong, or even that there's anything wrong with sticking to one light... it just sounds weird to me that you're basically committing to a light bulb brand or something because you're afraid of switching. When my current LED burns out... IDK, I'll get whatever seems best to me then. Even if it's mid crop. I am quite happy with my light mind you, but who knows, I may not be then, or may want to upgrade. To avoid problems you just have to consider all the factors (in terms of light: watts, lumens, coverage, distance, temperature, penetration, intensity, par value... anything else?) when making any changes to your set up.
