CFL question

no. I doubt it.

They make like 2-3 foot cfls for soem aquarium fictures, but light ranges are limited. Some work, but they aren't good light for production.

When you get to that sort of length it's more cost effective to just replace the bulb not the bulb + balast everytime it goes out 0.o.

When you're talking feet you're usually talking floros in a t5 t8 or t12. Of which t5 is usually considered the best for plant growth. They make higher wattage floro's called HO, and even a VHO (very high output) and they require different, higher wattage ballasts.

The hid variant of a Floro is basically an induction light. None of the electrical components of a standard floro are there (diodes etc) but they use very similar encapsulated gases like floros do. These are the only real HID form of floro.

do they make like 4ft or 8ft CFL bulbs for shop light fixtures?
There ARE grow lights made for the 4' shop fixtures, I have one, and found it convenient if you're going to start a bunch at once, but if vegging 2 or 4 plants, CFL's are easier to move around and keep light where you want it.

did you get them online?
i started about 60ish bag seeds the day before yesterday, i checked this morning and so far 17 have started to germ, so the long 4ft light would be best i think, cause im guessing before i put them in dirt, prob another 10 or so will germ so prob looking at about 30 or so

so i was looking up the t5 bulbs, do the HO ones requires a different ballasts also or was that just the VHO?

the main reason im wondering is because i work construction and the last job i did was replacing floros for this swampmeet, needed to change to a different one for osme reason so they all still work, but i got like 80 of them, so i was thinking about trying an indoor grow with some of them if i can get the right bulbs.

so could i go from seed to flower inside with these using the 6500k t5 for veg and a 2700k for flower? the reg t5s i can just drop right in the fixtures without changing anything right?

I got mine at Lowe's, just look for the tube section, then find your wattage and Kelvin rating.
About 10 bucks each if I remember correctly.
