I like it! If you can find a better way to hang your cfls, you should. So little light is emitted from the "top" of the bulb that you're wasting all the strong light!
really? i figured that there was enough light emitting from the sides that it would be ok as the space is so small, with the door closed, it is like the sun in there! haha..

i get what your saying... i guess i could always reconfigure the strips and put them horizontal but then I would need to build a little reflector. windshield sun reflector perhaps???

I think for now it's ok as they are all seedlings and i've seen, countless times, again and again, that they shouldn't get too much light in the early stages of life. I will wait until they are a lil bigger to switch the lights horizontal with hood...

thanks for the tip tho! anybody else have any thoughts on lighting position?

The plants slept for 6 hours today so I was anxious to see them when I got home from work. They are set to wake up just when i get home so I can check them out ;) I was surprised to see that my new largest bagseed seedlings are doing GREAT!!! Twisting is all gone on the larger seedling and new growth looks AWESOME! the shorter one is lookin good too with new growth!

in my excitement of the bagseed seedlings health, i forgot to state the progress on the 4 other seedlings I have. All 3 assassins and the 1 blue himalaya are doing great! they are all about the exact same height and stem thickness. the blue himalaya actually jumped ahead a bit of the assassin and fully opened her leaves. The other 3 assassins all have 1 leaf still up but are producing new leaves already.. all 7 lights are on in grow room.. temps remain at about 82F give or take a degree and at 50 to 52% humidity. a half gallon block of ice works great to increase humidity.

I'm also growing some assassins and blu hyms....noticing you are using fox farms...do you have any concerns of overnuting? Autos can be pretty sensitive....and yes, I've grown'em for years....just never had any luck with fox farms OF....good luck on your grow. Autos are my choice for medicinal relief...SS Assassin is one of the more potent SS I've done.....
BTW....noticed you let'em "rest" for 6 hours a day...? with cfl, you're already gonna have low yeilds...I rec 24/0.........autos DO NOT require any rest....keep their ass at work 24/0-24/7

thanks for your input! I really appreciate it.. Any pics of your girls to share? i would love to see them!

I had concerns using ffof as well but i noticed people tend to have issues providing nutes and using ffof.. i am not using nutes until i see some flowering or if my girls start showings signs they are hungry. in other words, i'm going to let the plants use up all the nutes in the soil before I give them anything. even then, i'm going to start 1/4 nutes and work it up slowly and feed every other watering..

As for the lighting schedule, the 18/6 decision was made based on a quite a few different resources stating that the yield difference is minimal compared to 24/0. What's been your experience? This is for personal use so yield is of concern as I would like to have enough to last through another grow..

should the seedlings be in 24/0 so early in life?

so i woke this morning to find both of my oldest bagseed seedlings leaves badly curled.. all new growth is curled and plants were almost crispy.. put my finger in the pot and it was completely dry.. they are still in little pots.. perhaps the lights were too close? i raised the lights about 2 inches.. the tops of the seedlings were about 2 to 3" from the bottom of the lights.. they are now about 5".. i always read that everyone puts em a few inches from the lights... i also see most people use 27watters not 42 watt like mine.. any suggestions? i can post pics of the plants if it'll help..

In addition to raising the lights, i also reconfigured the amount of lights in there.. i now have 4 lights.. 2 x 6500k and 2 x 2700k.. that's 168watts of light. i think that right now, 6 lights is too much for the little seedlings in that tiny box.. i think this grow dresser would have been better suited with some lower wattage bulbs due the space..

In any event, the auto plants are doing EXCELLENT! they are all growing great and are all pretty close to each other in regards to how fast they are growing. The auto seedlings have been an inch or so further away than the taller bagseed seedlings... the smaller seedlings don't show any sign of heat/light stress.. all stems are strong and leaves are coming out very nice..

ok cool. thanks! how is your blue himalaya coming along?
still hasnt popped the soil yet but should tonight. i put it in a lil before i should have but i was reading the most recent high times and there was awhole section on germing seeds and diff things. read that sometimes when you germ with the paper towell method sometimes moving it from the towell to soil can shock the plant and manke it grow slow so this was kinda an experiment to see how it grows germing like this. if any of that makes sense ha

i used the 42 watters for my first grow. worked well. i would keep those round 4ish inches from plants since they are hotter than the 23 and 26 watters. just sounds like they were super thirsty.

so i went home for lunch and checked on the girls.. all Auto's are still growing great!

The bagseed seedlings are doing much better now. they definitely perked up! i woke up this morning to find the soil was dry again so I re-watered them this morning. They looked much better at lunch and started stretching i guess you would call it.. its like the cotyledon are low on the stem now and there is space in between each set of leaves... the sativa one looks a bit retarded cause the growth is kinda weird but the indica is lookin bushy... I guess they are entering their next stage in life.. I will be transplanting them tomorrow to some bigger pots as I'll be gifting these bagseed seedlings to a friend over the weekend.

The others tho have been growin GREAT! I watered them thursday night and left Friday afternoon.. soil is stll moist so I'm going to wait until tomorrow night to water em. i will post pics of growth a little bit later!

The reggie bagseed seedlings didn't show this much growth EVER! LOL I thought they were growing good too! haha....
