Cause for concern?

Hows it goin today bro. I regularly trim the lower brush of my plants as they never receive as much light as the upper of the plant even though they're outdoors and the suns rays are exceptionally powerful and penetrative. I'm right about doing this yes? (always wondered, been doing trial and error this year as last year I did none of this and had quite a bit of popcorn on bottom)

Anyways the reason for this thread is for the linked pic I've provided. It seems I accidentally tore this branch out instead of cutting it which I don't remember when or for that matter WHY I decided to do this. Should have cut it. Either way It looks as though something (insect or disease/fungus) could inhabit this opening. Is this rational? Should I cover it with duct tape (lol)? Still a noob and trying to do as much for my girls as humanly possible. Let me know bros, peace and love to you all,

Greenie

Of course you should always give it a search yourself perhaps there's a better solution but I have seen duct tape used and worked just fine

Bump. Could anyone answer my first question? Thanks :)

I would try to keep as many leaves going as possible and only trim lower branches if the thick foliage was causing mold problems due to lack or air circulation. Popcorn growth should not inhibit bud/cola growth (at least in my experience)

well damn I've removed a good amount of growth on the bottoms of my plants..I thought I was helping them increase yield by having bigger top growth :/ SHIT! Oh well you live and learn. I'll refrain from removing anymore growth form here on out. Peace

I clear out the bottom too. Allows for air flow. Keeps the lower stuff out of the dirt. No garbage bud or at least less. I can see the health of the trunk as well. Like I see no aphids.. a
As you can see from the shadow being cast from the plant on the soil, not much light would have gotten there.
