Carport Greenhouse 2010

Thank you, things (except for 1 PK) are growing better than expected.

FDD, your grow is looking great, time for an update from you!

Scrog?................?

I'm giving some thought to putting 'tops' on them and scrog them. I think Veggiegardner did something like that. I'd just have to do everything up on a ladder.

Either that or I'll have to top the WW's again, at this rate they'll grow another 6'-8'!

Peace

Hey, Doudlejj do you feel safe in a carport with plastic film over building a real greenhouse, not meaning to sound cynical but I'm planning on doing this same thing but I was going to build it from 2*4 and plastic paneling (size 12L/8WD/6HT) and put 24-30 girls in it, but the cost is for everything is a little over 400 and I kinda want to lower cost and increase profit, but then again I would also use it atleast 10 months outa the year where I'm at. My question is do you feel safe and how well does it do in the weather?

I'm impressed!

Outstanding growth!

Do as you mentioned and just lay flat sheets of remesh on top of the cages. I use wire hooks to LST any shoots that get a foot above the mesh.

I spend a lot of time training each branch to fill a niche in the canopy.

In your greenhouse, I probably would have kept the cages at a height just above my head, by an inch or two. This would give a little more space for final bud growth.

A pic or two of my screen in my low profile(8') greenhouses. These are set about four feet above the ground.

Here's a pic of the last plant I harvested, last year. A Neville's Haze that produced very well. A whole bunch of nearly black buds.

That mass above the screen was very dense. I think it shows how important the space above the screen can be. It was all I could do to keep it away from the ceiling.

Wow, you've got your own jungle of MJ! They look happy and strong-- I can't believe they're 8'. My greenhouse wouldn't be able to support that without some serious LST. Job well done, I look forward to seeing the progress. Cheers.

Thanks for the encourageing words everyone. These plants are far exceeding my expectations! I can't believe it myself. The pic's don't really do it justice.

I'm gonna try an 8' SCROG! Thanks VG. This could get interesting.

I thought we should have a 30 day review.

Here is a pic from the greenhouse on 6/2:

Sorry Lerry, I forgot to answer your question. No this is no substitue for a real greenhouse, but for what I do it works great. I don't count on it for any security, just cover & concelment. And protection from moths! Argh! No my security is stealth & 8' solid wood fence. Molly keeps them on the correct side of the fence. I don't even let the meter reader in, I read my own meter. I let Molly bark & growl at the door every Halloween, so all the neighborhood kids get a close look at her, angry! And I give out the BIG candy bars on purpose. Works!

Here's a view from the street, stealth

You say there's no substitute for a real greenhouse, but your system seems to be working exceptionally well-- I'd go as far to say better than a real one.

That's funny I have a 5 year old cocker spaniel named Molly-- nick name's Mo-mo. Even when she tries to be tough she comes off cute-- so much for a guard dog. She's also my avatar pic. My other six month old cocker isn't civil enough to be photo'd yet!

She's a Chinese Shar Pei, actual spelling is Ma-Li, pronounced "Molly". Great guard dogs!

I've had several Spaniels before, Brittany's & Springer's, great dogs!

P.S. I'm off to Home Depot for more remesh, to make a SCROG top.

bongsmilieHey jj-
Once apon a time there was a boy named jj, jj was given $50 to go to the market and buy groceries, but jj bought a bag of weed instead, and in this bag of weed lied some magic seeds.....white widow. jj smoked up all the weed and planted those magic seeds. When he was asked about the groceries jj replied " I bought a bag of weed that had some magic seeds" he said. The others were not happy, everybody had the munchies and needed those Twinkies, jj spending the money on weed again the others replied, what were you thinking they asked? jj replied...those seeds will be 8' plants by the end of June, and 20'ers by Oct 1st .....you wait and see he told the others. They laughed at jj, only Hodge can pull that off said the others. You wait and see said jj, I'll put it up on RIU for all to see.....yadda yadda yadda.....fucken stoned on TLD's SR-71 Purple Kush......LMAO!.....sorry for the hijack.
I agree with you, what is that going to look like in another 30 days? Your shit tripled in the last 30 days, your going to have 20+ foot trees next month. lol
Keep up the good work...

do you ever get powdery mildew or any pests or heat problems? just wondering because it looks like its all poly vinyl around the car-port, it I did that here it would be 120 degrees in there with gnarly humidity. how do you keep them cool?

Ma-Li's a beautiful Shar Pei, and they're awesome breed-- gotta love their unconditional loving kindness.

Those buds are looking nice. You're plants are not only big, but really healthy looking too-- what's your secret! I was curious as to what your plans were to manage their height-- just keep raising the roof? You're going to need to some climbing gear pretty soon! Cheers doublejj.
