Caregiver application question

IMO I think the entire program sucks from Day One. I am glad that we are an MMJ state, but when I troll other states on here, they are (or at least it appears) they are so much advanced then we are. Why can we not sell leftovers to a dispensary like Cali? I know that if I needed to raise some funding to continue growing, cash would always be welcomed. How come we are not like Oregon and can meet at a Cannabis Cafe like they have? Sure we can grow state level, but they don't care and change the laws and it's readings at a drop of a hat to make it harder and harder. Just my .02 worth of the soap box ... Next ....

Have they adopted new rules yet? Recall that after the law in '09 passed, months later they adopted working rules for the program. I would expect the same as a result of the law passed last summer.

I havent talked to the state yet, was going to wait till Monday to try to call John. The confusing part of that letter if they say we cannot accept the $31, but resubmit other registration fees. Now what the hell does that mean,I sent the registration fees, along with my background check fee. Had my employee pay for his background check.

I will keep everyone updated but as of now it seems like employees are "no longer allowed as per AG"

and Yankee, I totally agree that this program has its flaws. Im sure in time those will be worked out. I think this structure is much better than say Cali, having to designate one person. It keeps more small guys in business as opposed to the huge dispensaries there on every corner. in time they will work out the kinks and improve (hopefully!) the laws regarding this. BUT...It is a major pain in the ass for them to be changing laws so quickly like this, if that is what happened. People need to be informed when that kind of shit happens.

Hope everyone is psyched for the game today

I have had state & federal background checks in the last year, and the state check for its purpose is good for either 5 or 7 years (cant remember with out looking), so do I need to pay for another one for this also ?

Pay, Pay, Pay (the single most spoken word in a courthouse)... Thats what we refer to all DA's as, princess paypay... if they could figure out how to make everybody pay, it would be legal.

They'd never get away with that if the need was more widespread. That is, since only a relatively small number of caregivers/employees are affected they can probably get away with gouging like that. But it is clearly gouging, and if it affected 1000s of people it would never fly. As it is, there will be a tipping point of resentment if they continue down that road and make it difficult or expensive for people to have or provide meds. Maine politicians need to be mindful of just how quick Maine people are to say, uh, no..that's not how we want it...then go ahead and vote on it.

I just saw where John Thiele will be at an Urban Garden Supply new store opening on Monday up in Brewer. It said that he will field questions !!

That's odd, isn't it? What's a state administrator doing at a store opening?
I don't think it's odd at all. There are lots of questions out there, and he's going where the questioners are likely to be. How is this different than, say, a dept of agriculture guy going to a feed store and fielding questions?

A little off topic, but have any of you heard of any local banks doing business with canna people with LLC's?
I haven't, and I would expect it to be quite difficult. As long as it is still against federal law, and at the moment, no way to claim mmj expenses, a bank would not likely to lend money to such a business imo. There are bills in Congress to allow mmj expenses.

I read somewhere that Colorado is trying to put together a bank for the canna business that is exempt from federal insurances so the conflict of interest isn't as great. It's a nice thought. When I created my LLC in October the forms they sent me said I had to get a bank account in the name of the LLC. I haven't done this obviously. I'm not looking for a loan, just a bank for cash deposits. As tax time creeps up I feel like I jumped the gun on the LLC and now I don't really know what to do with it.

Oh that's different. You should be able to open an acct with your company name no matter what it is or is for.

I have been scouring the internet sites all morning with no news at all. Unreal that the State and the DA are just claming up and taking away what was in place.... Or so it seems to me. Just saying my opinion here.
