hi, i'm new to this but i know a fair bit from conversations ive had with people, but i'm growing 5 big bud cheese next week in a 1.2 x 1.2 secret jardin tent with a rhino filter, will this eradicate 100% of the smell or not? i know the smell is by far the stinkiest but will it be really stealthy due to the cheese
thanks for any help

The rhino filters are great, they do alot to eliminate the smell, but in my opinion it aint 100%, more like 90-95%. I can always smell something lingering. A cheap ionizer might help pick up the rogue smell particles. 5 plants will reek alot so its best to be safe than sorry.

edit - oh and the filter will only do its job properly if you have a decent extractor fan aswell.

i use a rhino pro to 7 inch in a jordain 2m/3m/1.5m and it sure is one of the best ive used. but i still get a wiff of the ww. so i use and placen ONA blocks to pick up any smell that might linger. also running a negative pressure will help a lot more than positive with the smell also keep youre rh under 70 percent or youre filter will stop working

You can also use the onagel or onablock products to control smell that your rhino filter wont trap.

Ona blocks/gel are great aswell. They are also cheap. I have two tubs of it open, one just outside my tent near the outtake. The linen smelling one is my favorite, just makes the place smell like its washing day.

Ionizers are electrical devices that shoot charged ions into the air. The first particle that it hits will be totally zapped and forced to earth itself. What this does is flings the smelly organic particle against a wall or something close by. They are particuarly effective in dealing with lingering smells - best to plug one outside the room you grow in, near the door. This way the few smelly particles that escape have a good chance of being caught by the ionizer.

Oh about the extractor. I would imagine the hydro shop will steer you straight, but what is ideal is a centifugal extractor like this (below), what you need is an extractor that can maintain a good pressure while dealing with the resistance imparted by the carbon scrubber. A cheaper inline fan will loose alot of pressure when attached to a scrubber, and may not be able to filter the air properly.Lti-Systemair-RVK-Extractor-Fans.jpg

ok thanks one last thing the carbon filters take about 90% odd is that inside the house, but if someone was walking outside would they smell or unlikely? thanks

Hard to say amigo, depends on several things. Take my situation for example. I live in a 1bedroom flat, a small one with a tiny hallway. There is only about 7or8m and 2doors between my grow and the outside world so I take every precaution I can. If I can smell it in my hallway then there is a good chance it will at least be periodically noticable outside my front door which is a huge risk. If you cant smell the grow outside the door of the room you are growing in you know you are doing well to hide it. Another key factor is where do you plan on extracting the air to? i let mine out through my bedroom window which is above ground level, reasionably safe. So my only concern is my hallway and front door.

The paranoid man's defence

1 - suitable carbon scrubber and extractor in tent
2 - Ona product near the tent
3 - ionizer plugged in as close as possible to the outside of the grow room door
4 - Ona product near front door in the hallway
5 - resist the urge to open the tent very often as alot of smell escapes

well im definately gonna invest ion ONA and i will only go in tent once a day maybe twice and im in a two bedroom house and its going to be in the front bedroom and extracted through the chimney breast and the good thing is that there is no houses facing mine just field so there is less people walking past so hope all goes well

Ah well it sounds pretty secure to me, venting out your chimney is ideal. By the time any smell hits ground it will have travelled away from your property. You probs woulnt have to worry to much about opening the tent and stuff, I just have to be strict because of my situation. Happy growing bro!
