Can't find the fitting I want - little help?

I am trying to connect 1/2 tubing to PVC. I was hoping there would be a T fitting that would have PVC on two of the ends and a 1/2 barb on the other. I can use a normal barbed T if I have to, just like rigidity of PVC. Is there some trick to connect tubing and PVC together? It's crazy how many different systems there are for water - PVC, tubing, pex, soldered copper, threaded plastic, threaded brass... takes two hours to figure out how to connect a garden hose to a water pump.

Home depot has 90 degree 3/4" thread to 1/2" barbed fittings.
They're in the irrigation section with the sprinkler heads and stuff.

Think just drilling a hole in the side of the PVC and inserting tubing in it would work? I could do it with 1/2" slip/barbs, but I'd need 5 of them, which is like $17 + shipping. Then I'd need 4 T's. Thinking I might have to do it like that, or get 1/2" barbed 90 deg. fittings and do it all with tubing - problem is that the tables fill up at different rates with just a T.
