Vivosun 5-in-1 Water Quality Monitor Review. Spoiler Alert: Do Not Buy!

I have been trying out various vivosun products lately. They have been trying to raise their game and their tents are much improved and their high cfm bars win on design over their competitors. This caught my eye since it seemingly could do everything a Bluelab Guardian could do keeping tabs on my reservoir at a fraction of the price.

It arrived in a flimsy fitted storage case. Foam cutouts barely correspond to the included components. Monitor, usb-c charger, pH probe and 2 tds sensors with press fit tees for tubing. In theory you can read data for water in and water out with them. My goal was to suspend them in my res for continuous monitoring20240129_120944.jpg

You see that the unit says 'Online' on the front but this is a straight typo. Should have been inline. This has no connectivity or app integration at all. Also notice the quality finish on the tds sensor connectors.20240131_084146.jpg

The cables are all too short. I need to have them extend to the bottom of my res but the pH probe is about a foot too short so how would I get readings once my res level drops? In addition, I can't get any distance between the monitor and res so it is in the way.20240131_082525.jpg20240131_084142.jpg

Finally, I calibrated both sensors and they do not agree. I calibrated the pH probe and it never stabilizes the reading, just bounces wildly around. It's hard to understand how this went to market.

This is being returned today. I had hoped it would please me as much as my other Vivosun purchases and I hope they ditch this from their product line.

Boo when I saw the TDS probe thought this seems sketchy.

I have a laundry list of things wrong with Vivosun products. That were purchased in the last 6 months

The software support for the grow hub is horrible, my question was I can't get it to go in RECIPE mode--Response just press the button. Apparently they think I am an idiot who didn't try that first and a lot of other combinations. So SUPPORT is non existent .

The 6Lither humidifier has a mind of it's own does what it wants not relational to the setting made. Plus if you shake it it changes setting.

I ordered 4 soil testers and a scrog net they sent me one tester and claim they sent all items. Typical Ebay style scam.

So my solution is to avoid them like the plague, I have replaced the controller and the humidifier with Infinity Products and when this grow is over they will be trashed.

I can imagine how much fun there do everything box for the users.

Aci controllers and smart plugs have a number of well known bugs that the company doesn't address. Their high cfm bar kit is woefully underdesigned. Nobody's perfect. I own a bunch of equipment from both companies, and I like specific products in both lines. I'm not interested in bashing an entire company because of brand loyalty. I reviewed a product that did not measure up to share that information with the RIU community.
