I'd imagine so, assuming you don't look for it anymore after you find it ..

I usually find it by getting to the level I was when I put it somewhere then I just go about as if I needed to hide something else and if it doesn't just come back to me then I will typically stumble across it while hiding my new object.. Its the worst feeling to lose your shit to your own memory, thats why I designated a fwe key places in each room ot hide, so I know its always in one of those or somebody got it somehow...
