Cannabis Cup Biased?? Over rated: Tangerine Dream, Jack Herer....

I do understand the judging process of the Cannabis Cup. But, I smoked Tangerine Dream, Jack Herer and few winning strains.... They are just Ok. Is High Times Biased towards certain breeders??

I dont find these strains to be anywhere near the best i have smoked...

Why? Have these OG Kush amazingly bomb strains from California not made it to the Cannabis Cup testing???

Actually most of the "bomb" strains you're referring to were entered in last years High Times Medicinal Cannabis cup in San Fran.
Subcool's Vortex took top honors in Sativa, and a strain called Cali Gold won took the Indica award.
All the OG's from Cali Connection lost out for whatever reason, we'll see how the up coming Cup in Colorado goes in a couple of months.

As for overrated, did you smoke Sensi Seeds Jack Herer?
Because it sounds like you smoked up one of the knock off's.
If you get real Jack, properly grown, it is some of the best in the world without a doubt.
I was lucky enough to have the real Jack the first time I smoked it, but have had only knock off's from the dispensaries since.
That's why I'm growing out my own Sensi Seeds Jack Herer now, it was that good.

Where did you smoke these? Did you grow them?

If you and I grew the same strain (cloned from the same mom) and you're a better grower than I am, you'll not only yield more but produce a more potent product. If you smoked these strains in Amsterdam, well, I've never been that impressed with the quality over there. It's very good quality but my own stuff is better and many people who 'grow their own' and have been across the pond feel the same way.

I think so. It's about money and while I'm sure winning strain are really good (I have 2 from serious seeds and they're seriously good), I bet there are many that have been overlooked throughout the years.

My local dispensaries always have Jack Herer... possibly sensi seeds... i dont know. My buddy just grew tangerine dream on his last grow.

Ever been to Los Angeles? If Jack is Haze x NL its not that special around here. $250-$300 per zip maybe...This Platinum OG i have can sell for $400 Zip / $65 1/8.

Jack Herer is and always will be the cream of the crop from the 90's and will always be a classic, but these "Cali Kush" strains are real :fire:

IMO, way better than most of the dutch/UK strains which are pretty "meh" for me now since I grew out OG18Skunk last crop, on a 2nd run with it now :wink:

and also got Tahoe OG & DeadHead OG in this time and I plan to try out many more too!! I'm really lovin the OGK, Bubba, Chem, Sour cross strains lately, and I'm in the UK too!!

you have to realize that the stuff in the CC are select clones too. Not every seed is going to be the same quality of herb especially with hybrids that have many different phenotypes.

Jack is not just Haze x NL, its all that and a whole lot more.

yes! you are so right! tangerine dream was just okay. where did you get your jack herer? i got mine from reeferman and no complaints at all. i also had casey jones which had supposedly rave reviews. more potent than the tangerine but not as tasty.

i think the tangerine won off its hit quality, very smooth and tangy/sweet.

If you wanna grow a killer indica try sensi seeds nl#1 it blows all the kush ive smoked/grown put of the water too if I remember correctly it's not even allowed to enter lol

I imagine you can get a hole bunch of feminised kush seeds for the price of 10 regular jacks. The guy selling this "killer" kush is probably keeping the Jack for his/her self I've smoked all sorts of kush and they don't enter any of the sativa/haze groups on highs IMO (probably and actual fact)
