Can you run six 1000w HPS without throwing red flag?

Hi all, I was wondering if you could get away with running 6 1000 watters for the duration of one flowering period without the electrice company ratting you out? there will also be a 12000btu a/c and all the fans and pumps too. If you did this for only 60 days in socal would you be okay if you pay ur bill? Was also thinking abt using a diesel generator since I get free diesel at work but dont want the hassle of turning it on each day. thanx for any help

Obviously the power company wants your money and as long as you pay your bills they might not care. I personally would be nervous with that kind of increase, but have no facts to tell me it can or can't be used by the power company to look into the increase.

that's an awful lot of power. if you're living in a huge house, in an expensive neighborhood, prob. would be no problem. if you're living in a 3 bedroom in a middle class neighborhood, don't do it. also, you'd have to have some pretty good sized breakers to run that much w/o burning down the house.

Do the generator, especially if you get free diesel! That's going to be a difference of a few hundred dollars every month or more.

if yor in so-cal and have your card and are legaly able to grow then fuck it. i run 8- 1.000 watt hps in flower and 2 - 1,000 watt MH in veg and dont worry. im in colorado and with in my legal rights as a care taker to grow what i am so f*@k the power company lol!

Depends on where you live. Most hydro companies now use computers to monitor usage. If you go from 150 a month to 350 per month that would raise a red flag. They then would attach a monitor to the line to see whats happening, a week later they would be knocking on your door saying there is a problem or they call the cops. I work for a hydro company. No we don't look to rat people out but the days of plugging in and using 300$ more a month are coming to an end. You better be running a welding shop when they come by.

Now what you want to do is increase gradually then the computer won't trigger the investigation when it detects a big increase. That's why people steal hydro, but that is coming to and end soon. In fact in some places it is more of a crime to steal hydro than to grow pot.

Go slow 2 lites to start, 3 months add another 2. Just before the winter is the time to ramp up due to cold weather for those of us in northern states. Maybe you went to electric heat due to allergies. Could happen.. Maybe add a big central air, get one that is NFG it's for show and can drive your hydro up 150 to 200 if you run it all the time. Just have a possible explanation and you will be fine.
