Can plant disease be passed through seed?

hi all,

This may be a stupid question for you but I’m wondering if plant diseases can be passed through seed.

My plant had systemic wpm so I had to rip it but noticed it was pollinated and had mature seeds. Now the seeds germinated but I was wondering can the WPM be passed down through seeds? I know for clones its almost for certain but not sure about the seeds.

Thanks for the help.

Hmm good question. I would think it could be more susceptible to certain things due to its genetics.

Like the strain I’m growing now apparently is terrible for mold
You growing outside? I’m in Toronto and Just pulled my northernlights at day 51 of flower... had to toss almost half of it due to rot.... this season has been hell for the dence strains :(

The thing we don’t talk about lmao white powder mildew
Arent the spores everywhere on wind and in soil, literally if you create the right conditions its hard not to culture it.

It could be spread but its probably there already at a guess :-)

Nope not this year, started indoor when it legalized. I’ll never go back to outdoor. I’m about an hour and a bit northeast of Toronto

Not sure why you’d want seeds from the plant anyway,it’s got pm,prone to mold and sounds like it’s a hermi as well..all these wonderful traits will be passed to the seeds.

Actually no not a hermie was pollinated by a neibours plant most likely... pretty sure idiot had males and this plant was near fence.... but as per hermie seeds being 100% Hermies i believe that’s false. That’s what noobs that stress their plants say when they can’t take responsibility. Iv gotten fem seeds from a hermie.

Also the plant was outside if I use the seed it will be for an indoor run.

Iv grown this strain inside with no pm or mold ... just couldn’t control the outdoor weather my dude... . let the picture below answer ur question as to why I’d want to grow it lmfao

Now let me be clear my question is not asking if the plant will be susceptible to pm or mold. I’m simply asking if the virus itself can be passed to the seed. Like will my seedling develop the mildew right off the jump as a clone would? Even in the perfect environment where on wouldn’t grow? I believe I read something about the seeds shell being contaminating just want someone who has experience to clarify .

Thankyou

No it can not be passed via seed. It is an ectoparasite not an endoparasite. Enjoy the read.

PM can be so problematic for all intents and purposes it can seem systemic and can be treated as such but it is not. Also if you have spores on the seeds it can contaminate the newly germinated plant.

If you need help getting to harvest I highly recommend Marrone Regalia.
Good luck to you
