Can I Use A 400w MH Lamp In a 600w LumatecDIMMEBLE Digital Ballast ?

I know how stupid this question sound's ... But hear me out

I know they will run both MH and HPS thats simple

But my thinking is this ... If you can turn a 600w ballast down to 400w ... then is that not the max rate for a 400w lamp ?

I have a 600w Digital DIMMEBLE Ballast .......I have a 600w HPS AND A 400w MH ...If i turn the ballast down to 400w ...will it fire the 400w MH

Am i right in thinking the lumatec 600 dimmable actually dims in % so 100% 75% 50% ?


If so it would be 600w 450w 300w as you reduce it.

Or does it have a wattage associated with it?

Hi ya J man ... hope your doing good

It's rated in 600 400 250 and super .

I have sent them an e-mail but had no reply yet ...Im tempted to give it a go ... but i will wait and see what the outcome is

One thing for sure though ... it does use less lecky .... it is quiet ..... it runs a lot cooler ... and the light it gives off is MUCH brighter .

would be nice if i can run the 400 MH at the start and end of the flower period ....If not i will get a 600 MH

Lamp Replacement

Be sure to disconnect the power source before changing lamps. Always use the specified wattage of lamp. (A 400W lamp should not be used in a 600W ballast). Lumatek recommends lamp replacement every 6-12 months.
