California Universal Healthcare Bill advances in Legislature

Sounds good if you like paying more taxes.

The additional taxes you would pay would amount to about 25% of how much private insurance charges you. So, in the end, you'd actually pocket 75% more of your money over the long haul.

The reason people like you are so ignorant is that rather than actually find out how other nations systems work, you just listen to a bunch of billionaires tell you that it's a horrible idea that would cost you more taxes and take it as the gospel.

Stop being a stupid sheep herded into whatever corner they want you in. Do some research. Think critically...if you still have that ability after years of lapping up their bullshit, that is.

What is the sense of this legislation among the people living in CA? Does the bill have no chance and nobody is paying attention?

Are you benefitting from medicaid or some other health care program delivered by the fed?
Nope i pay for my shit.i own a S corp so i use my company to pay our healthcare but at the end of the day its still me paying for it.6 of my 10 employees also have coverage through my company.i see you make reference to high costs of health care but you leave out the fact im limited to providers in my state.being a doctor and having insurance against malpractice doesnt help lower costs,rx drugs being outrageously priced doesnt help.so the government could help bring down costs a few ways.my wife had stage 4 cancer 3 years ago,im glad i had a choice on what hospital i could use (U of M) because my Canadian buddy with cancer did not get the same care she got and continues to get.my company paid over 50k in healthcare premiums and i also pay one of the highest rates in the country in unemployment taxes and workers comp.please dont think for a second you are going to school me on any of these issues.when those yahoo's around here start tossing around wage numbers i know they are either full of shit or working for cash and dont even contribute to welfare lol

Do you think your time is well spent when dealing with health care coverage for you employees? Wouldn't your time be better spent doing something to promote or manage the business? If you are paying 50k in premiums then you are paying 8300 per employee. I'm glad your wife thinks she is getting treatment that you think is your Canadian friend. Both are still alive and getting better, I hope. But really, did your wife and your canadian friend have exactly the same medical problem? Is it relevant? Overall, Canadians opinion poll rings up 86% approval rating while people in the US have a 36% approval rating. Paying a lot more and less satisfied is what the people of the US are getting. Insurance companies have failed to provide good healthcare service.

The point is, that money is poorly spent when compared to other nations.

You are absolutely right about my buddy and wifes conditions and treatment being very different .and i took my wife to every single chemo and radiation treatment where my buddy is alone with no car.his biggest complaints are about appointment wait times, rides to and from, and how shitty he gets treated.my wife got awesome care here at u of m cancer center.yes if we could get the same or better care and i dont have to deal with it great, but usually when the state or gov gets involved it gets fucked up.

Your comparison of two people is not really very helpful because of the different situations. Does your buddy think he would have been treated better in the US? Could he even have been able to pay for $700/month or $8,400/yr healthcare coverage in the US?

Even so, 86% of Canadians have a favorable view of their healthcare system 36% of US Americans have a favorable view.

The US pays double what other countries pay and we have worse outcomes for same treatments.

Insurance companies have failed to provide anywhere near comparable care compared to countries with single payer health care coverage. Does it matter to a small businessman if the cost of coverage is payed through employer-paid insurance or payroll taxes?

The US pays more for health care with worse results than any other developed nation. US companies pay about $15,000 per family. About 80% of people with healthcare coverage receives it a benefit from their employer. We pay, right now in the form of reduced wages and higher prices while an insurance company profits. Does it matter if payment comes in the form of lower wages or taxes? I'd like to have the same good health care coverage our neighbors to the north enjoy.

Average cost per individual is about $4500. Your blase attitude makes me wonder. Do you even have health care coverage?

If you had a grasp of how supply and demand stifled by government intervention works, you would realize what the root causes to high prices are. But...you don't.

who do you think provides funding for the university of michigan cancer center?
A lot of funny accounting was done to make the cancer center look like it was running at a profit in 2015 (last report) but it would never have been built without public funds and backing.
