Is there any feeding mixture to use on clones that helps the roots develop?
i dont mean to gush, but you have the best thing going right there dude. just get you a small dixie cup, put some coco in it, get you a liter bottle, fill it up halfway with water and put .25 tsp of A, shake it up, then put some more water just about to the top, add put a .25 tsp of B, shake it up and let it sit. after that put that clone about an inch deep in the coco and while you hold it straight, water it till you get a drain. and the coco will settle around the stem and hold it in place. and put it under your lights.
now if that don't work then i got some serious egg on my face because that's how i do mine.
Funny, I very lightly feed my cuttings, too. I just rarely ever say so, because I don't like being "yelled at" for doing something "wrong" with my clones. I've been taking cuttings since I was a little girl, so I don't think I need MJ growers telling me that I'm not doing it right.... dontcha think? I've got a gallon bottle filled with pre-mixed grow nutes, and another of pre-mixed rooting hormones; both are mixed double strength so I won't have to mix again for a while. (They're in the fridge to stay fresh.) So I take a two liter bottle, add 2 oz. of the rooting hormone mix, 1 oz. of the nute mix, and fill the rest with water. I then just pour into my cuttings cups, using my little measuring cup to pour so that there isn't all the "flopping" of water coming out of the soda bottle; I don't want a tsunami in there! OH, for my seedlings before they're ready for feedings, I have a spray bottle with rooting hormones in it, and I spray a good amount of it onto the coco's surface (it quickly goes down into the coco and drains out of the bottom) several times a day.... this way the tiny (currently three day old) seedling gets a rooting hormone boost, but doesn't end up swimming around from pouring water. :hump:

Yes! Another member that didn't know how to multiquote. I've been on here for a while and had no idea until last week. I'd just hit the "multi" button and nothing would happen. I didn't want to look like an ass and ask anyone.

So, when you find a post that you want to quote, you hit multi (and not much really happens). Keep doing this for each post that you want to quote until you hit the LAST post that you want to quote. On that last post that you're looking to quote, just hit the regular old "quote" button and it sends you to the Go Advanced reply field with all of the posts that you multi-qouted in the text field.
WOO HOO, it worked! Thank you, Butters! This is gonna make my multi-quoting habit so much easier now!

butters i love it!! love looking over new journals, hey i need u to explain something to me, how in the world do i multi quote? been tyring to work that shit out for ages!

in the US i guess the water is treated quiet a bit my water is really good i only got a truncheon so its only giving 0.2 as the lowest reading and that light doesn't flash so its obviously lower than that. need a digi one to get the real reading. whats the average ppm of the water u guys use ?

madazz:weed:
the water where i live is very good. i don't know how much chlorine is in it but i let it sit for a day just in case. as far as Ph, once i saw that my water was pretty cosistent i just stopped checking it needlessly over and over. and as far as ppm, never ever checked it.

PEACE!!!

sounds like you know what you're doing to me, ROCK ON!!!!! btw i do put alot of holes in the top of the 1liter bottle cap. yea i learned about the tsunami effect the hard way.

Clones are doing HORRIBLE!! :cuss:....:wall:....

I'll get pics up tomorrow morning so you all can see what I'm talking about.

I'm completely lost as to what I should do to make them better at this point. I have no idea why they are reacting this way.

Here are the facts: ;-)

-They started in an aeroponics unit and had A root in 10 days.

-At day 13 or 14, they started showing some yellowing in the leaves up top while in that aeroponic unit

-pH stability was an issue in the aeroponic unit

-transferred to coco medium 2 gallon bucket when they were 3 weeks old. One had a good system of roots, the other had considerably less roots.

-nutes were added at week 3, during the transplant to coco.

-temps have been in mid 80's and humidity has been a little over 60%

-lighting was switched to hps when they were transplanted.

I'm just not getting it. And the mom is past the 2 week flower deadline at this point so taking more cuttings isn't the greatest option.

How do you make very sick clones come back?

Hey Butters, sorry to hear about your situ.

I am currently on my first grow and the clones that I started with were almost dead.

1- Since there wasn't much root action going on, I just made sure to spray the leaves with water through out the day.

2- I also used a heating mat to make sure the roots grow fast.

3- I put them in a Humidity dome and kept the humidity at 100% by laying some wet perlite on tray inside the dome.

I am no expert like some of the fellows here I am just sharing what worked for me, hope this helps at least a lil bit.

Okay. Here's what it's looking like.

Pics 1-2) Here's what I'm talking about. Just a crapload of yellowing. At this point, I am giving some serious consideration to pulling them out of the coco and trying to re-establish them in a hydro set up. I can get more diagnostic info about what's going on from hydro. My ppm meter and ph meter should give me some important insights. Just not sure if that'll shock them too much.

Rest of the Pics)

Well, here's the good news.

She is doing very very well in there. Full on flowering going on . That canopy is uneven as all hell but that's okay. Something to improve on for next round. ;-)

There a few colas in there that are gonna produce some serious buds. They are already filling in quite nicely and should be the bulk of the weight that I pull off in this grow. The best example of one is the one directly by that white wire to the HPS. My camera sucks and doesn't do it justice at all, but man that thing is gonna be huge!

All of the leaves are looking as healthy as I ever could have hoped for. Perfect shade of green with no sign of nute burn or heat stress. My ultimate goal of not f'ing up in flowering is going well so far.

This also marks the 1st week of the use of PK 13/14, a highly recommended additive for coco grows. Typically, it is indicated to use this for one week only. But I'm taking the advice of a grower that goes by jberry and trying to use it for 3 weeks so that I hit the "sweet spot".

The other nutrient factor that I have to take into account is the final 3 weeks of this grow. During the last 3 weeks I will be using Gravity to get denser nugs . This is a VERY temperamental additive that requires steps like adding distance from the plant to the light source and seriously scaling back other nutrients. I have heard nothing but good things about using gravity but need to do some experimenting for myself to see. If I can get just 1 clone to survive, I would like to do a side by side grow with one plant on gravity and the other on just the regular nute reigmen.

But those f'ing clones NEED to cooperate!

That's all for now folks. Hope you enjoyed the bud porn. I'm still 50/50 on the idea of transplanting back into hydro at this point. I'll update with any major changes I make. Now....where to find clear plastic cups and foliar feeding sprayers.......bongsmilie

I keep going back and forth on this too man!

Here's what I'm thinking...I need to do some trimming up on the under side of the mother plant. So I figure that I can do some of my lollipopping and find the smallest, rootable cutting that I could chop. Then, put it in the aerogarden and just sit and wait and see if it works. ;-)

If it doesn't, then all I've lost is just a little nug come harvest time.

But if it does, then I can avoid making the mistakes that I made with the first 2 cuttings, make sure they're fully rooted, and keep this very nice strain alive.

I can't get over how there is like no smell at all with this strain! That's crazy! It smelled just a tad in veg, but ever since going to 12/12.....nothing. :blsmoke:

I made a goddamn filter out of a coffee container attached to an Easter basket and don't even need the darn thing!

I'll let ya know how my lollipop/cloning goes tomorrow.

As Journey once wrote in a song....."Don't stop beliiiieeeeevin". And I think we all knew that that song was really about taking clones.

hey man, sorry about the clones. look here though i think you should take about 2ml, just about half a teaspoon, of of the A and B, mix it in 1 liter of water, and put at least one of those clones in a plastic dixie cup or something. dont forget to gently scrape the surface skin off of how ever much of the stem is going in the coco, what this does is maximize the amount of surface area soaking up the nutes, and also more area for roots to form. i just mentioned the last part just in case you didn't know, but just try it. other than that man big props on the screen. yea you were right, it is too late to cut anything off of the top. very nice though. about the smell, it will start to have a little bit more of an odor as it matures, but it still won't be a "WEED" smell. and when those trichs start busting out, and you touch 'em with your fingers, oh my God you will be pleasantly surprised by what it smells like. but yea the srtongest mine smells like is probably a three out of ten. and its funny how the stems smell completely different from the buds. hey i'm out dude, but i'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Okay. So, I transplanted them back into the aerogarden. Found out why they weren't doing too well.......

...they had no roots!!! :o.....

I dug the clones out of the coco. I was careful as I didn't want to disturb the roots. And as I gently pulled them up, there was nothing there.

God only knows what happened.

My only solution was to try and re-clone them. I took a nice clean razor, and chopped higher up the stem at the 45 degree angle, dipped in rooting hormone, and put in some nice ph'd distilled water.

Lord knows if this will actually work but it was the only option that I could see. If not, oh well....at least I gave it a shot. ;-)

I'll give it a couple of weeks and then will start germing a new seed if it fails so I can get the perpetual aspect of this going.

Not feeling so great about my cloning ability so far. Started out good, but I must've transplanted too early. There's a good chance those clones lost there roots during the transplant to coco. Putting all that weight on those little young barely-formed roots. What was I thinking? :wall::wall::dunce:

Let's see how my final attempt to save'm goes.

Very glad to have you aboard.

Allow me to summarize my thread to cut down on your reading:

"Blah blah blah, I moved to coco.
Blah blah blah, I'm trying a screen. :-|
Blah blah blah, I have a 400wHPS now and am loving it. :D
Blah blah blah, it's been hot and humid as hell outside and therefore hot and humid in the tent. :fire:
Blah blah blah, I vegged for 6 weeks and damn near cut off a finger making the screen and then fucced up the screening.
Blah blah blah, I made a carbon filter system out of a coffee canister and a plastic easter basket
Blah blah blah, I tried cloning and royally fucced it up.
Blah blah blah, my even-canopied screen is completely uneven and my giant plant is gonna lift the screen off the ground any day now."

There. Now you're all caught up.
